... to Alanya, I opted to take the coach this time instead of hitch hiking. I got into the station at 6:30 and then took a city bus to get closer to the beach. I think I was pretty much in the wrong neighbourhood for cheap hotels but was able to negotiate a room down from 50 to 30 TL. The apartment had a living room, kitchen, dining area and bedroom!

Now for a walk-about town for the evening...

Alanya, Antalya, Turkey stephanberlin... we spotted next to a petrol station was closed, so we bought some snacks and continued towards Alanya. Twenty kilometres of beach for 110000 inhabitants and about twenty tourists at this moment. But the rows upon rows of similar looking, eight to twelve story high, hotel blocks valid the expectation that the number of beach users can be such that a napkin sized plot is all each gets during the high season, including sixteen litres of seawater. Have fun. For ...
Alanya, Turkish Mediterranean Coast, Turkey robertandtanja... each other, and have been living here year round for several years. They both have houses here and it appears that they have an unspoken understanding to meet here for beers in the evening. He's retired from his clerk position in a navel shipping company, somewhere in the south of England, specializing in lumber. He tells us how cheap the real estate and land tax is here. She is living on money she and her deceased husband had saved for their retirement, and tells us of a stray ...
Fethiye, Turkey yoni... Damo felt energetic and even swam out to the castle while I lay like a lazy whale on the beach! From Kizkalesi we headed along the coast road towards Alanya. Unfortunately the coastal road was slow as it wound it and out so we made a decision to head inland. Not the best decision ever made on our part. It took us 9 hours and part of the road wasn't sealed and ...
Alanya, Antalya, Turkey kazanddamo... open by the river. Salcuk, Turkey ants... have gone through there. That's the only thing I could think of making that kind of localized damage. We climbed and climbed eventually passing a few old temples to the flames and a story of the mythology behind the flames. According to the legend, Olympus is the place where the Olympics got their start. The first Olympic event was to run with a torch lit from the eternal flames all the way down to Olympus with out it going out. I thought that was interesting as I always thought ...
Olympus, Turkey natecropp... is OK for cycling as there is a whole lane not used by traffic. Following this for a short whileýle I arrived at the last town on my turkey tour, Alanya. First stop was the Red Tower (Kizil Kule). The next stop was a bit more of a challenge - the Alara Fortress. 250 meters climb in the humid heat with all eyes watching, but the views ...
