... ended up at a Texmex/Italian/Turkish restaurant which was not at all your typical Turkish restaurant. ... staying. He fed us home made jams and fruit from his tree and introduced us to his pride and joy turtle pets. They have free roam in the garden. It's awesome. Guess what we are getting when we get back home. We spent the day walking around the beach and through the ruins, tasting the cheap and delicious foods from a sneaky little home cook place not catering to any tourists... Delicious food!
The beaches were covered in rubbish and the amount of cigarette butts ...

Sitting on the top deck, the river trip took us past small fish farms, watermelon fields under miles of plastic sheeting and a busy boatyard. It seemed that all the pirate ships were in for maintenance, and we passed many of them gorily adorned, moored up waiting for their repaint job.
There were lots of men lounging on the riverbanks as we passed, fishing.

... renting a Turkish car is the best way to go ( although not a fiat I hear). One just has to be brave...and start out somewhere outside of Istanbul...and probably NEVER even attempt to drive within its boundaries...simply out-of-control! Anyway, Konya...I have picked up a couple of books that will help me understand more about who Rumi really was. I picked up a few silly souvenirs as well...and some Sufi music...we went to the Mevlani Museum ...
