Mmmm 0626. Should I get up? I'll just turn over and doze. Now 0830, might get going. Sit by the pool before the pool bar starts playing music. Reading 'Milat' and chilling. Swim after breakfast then head for beach. 100 baht for a lounge chair. A couple of swims with a magnum ice cream (like last time we were here). The ocean was a little rough and when the sun burst out of clouds, phew very hot. Watched the tourists withe their severe sunburn. Scary ...

    Phuket, Thailand: Holiday Bliss

A travel blog entry by samber on Nov 30, 2013

... less dangerous than most of our Central Asian journeys. Met four ladies from England (around our parents young spritely age) who were backpacking around Thailand. They were having a great time and keen to share their adventures. When we pulled into Patong one of them said "Oooh this doesn't look like the quiet place I imagined. Perhaps I should have done some research". Here I'm thinking - "Mate I'm at least half your age and can assure you this is not ...

    ... Karon Beach is quiet-all
the action takes place in Patong where throngs of people stroll by many
shops restaurants and bars. We also discovered that Karon beach is a "go
to" destination for Russians. Russian is heard on the street and all
signs are in English, Thai and Russian; however, most Thai only speak
some English. So ends our stay in southern Thailand. It's off to the
    north for our cultural ...

... of a different story going back. The swell had got up, and for 25 minutes of the 1 hour journey back we were hitting some reasonably big waves and were thrown around a bit!! Everyone was pretty drenched by the bow wave and one large wave pretty much saturated everything and everyone! Has to be said though that the boat drivers here show a great deal of skill and this is by no means the worst they would sail ...

... anyway, as it just doesn't seem right to pay so little. We went and had Indian for lunch at a little place by the beach. Brad had promised the guy the other day that we would eat there and the food was really nice. We really like the spot by the beach, it's in the same area as the beach shack that we had a drink at the other day. After lunch we went in search for the leather place for me to get my skirt made that I'd found online. As it happens, it was ...
