... the mountainous peninsula to Las Terrenas, the biggest resort town on the peninsula and a little bit of France in the tropics. Well, not really, but the tourists are mostly French and Italian and the resorts and boutique hotels all on a small scale, a nice low-key kind of a place.

The restaurants in Las Terrenas are also mostly Italian and French, so I decided to lunch at the guidebook recommended beachfront La Terrasse on Soup de ...

It was very quiet and relaxing, almost urging me to stay put. I did take a day trip to Las Terrenas, another day trip to El Limon waterfalls, another day trip to Playa de la Valle, I spent another day at Playa Rincon and generally just chilled out! Exercise in the ...

... as we had purchased a tour. The tour was called "Cultural Highlights of Samana."

The documents warned of a long tender ride, pollution and poverty. I didn't think the tender was that long, taking only about 15 minutes. The other two were dead on. When we got off the tender on to the Samana dock the pollution stared us in the face. The water in the bay is filthy. There is no other word to describe it. The clarity was maybe a foot, and garbage floated ...
