... different shades of blue, green, and turquoise because of its clarity and the light and varying sand color in the shallows. So this is what a perfect beach looks like? I guess I have to admit that being more of a mountain man I’m not too much of a connoisseur of beaches, but lack of crowds, colorful water, palm trees near the shore line, and green hills across the bay works for me!

It was very quiet and relaxing, almost urging me to stay put. I did take a day trip to Las Terrenas, another day trip to El Limon waterfalls, another day trip to Playa de la Valle, I spent another day at Playa Rincon and generally just chilled out! ... as we had purchased a tour. The tour was called "Cultural Highlights of Samana."

The documents warned of a long tender ride, pollution and poverty. I didn't think the tender was that long, taking only about 15 minutes. The other two were dead on. When we got off the tender on to the Samana dock the pollution stared us in the face. The water in the bay is filthy. There is no other word to describe it. The clarity was maybe a foot, and garbage floated ...
