... another one of those where's a tuk tuk when you need one moments, we just managed to find one before the rain really started bucketing down!
There was mass amounts of thunder and lightning but not enough to stop about 9 keen as hell Sri Lankans heading out into the surf, the surf was suprisingly clean considering the weather but some monster waves sets were sneaking up every now and then. It was good fun to watch!

... executed a few wobbly press ups. Then he asked us to lie on our backs and pick the balls up with our feet then lift and lower them – in time to the music of course. These balls need more air in them; they're too squashy and I couldn’t lift mine because of excessive giggling, this meant that the ball was in control and I dropped it on my face a couple of times. I don’t think he’d ever seen anybody quite manage this and we ...

Quite an interesting journey to Bentota. We stopped in Galle to see the fort, at Hidakkuwa to see the beach, at a natural moonstone mine to get talked into buying some jewellery and at a turtle hatchery. I think we avoided the rest of the tourist traps! In places the journey was a bit sad. We went through areas that had been badly hit by the tsunami. And the turtle hatchery even had stories of how ...
Bentota, Sri Lanka laurenw86... with a whole pound to cover the 4 hours journey I found the platform and waited for the train. It was very busy and I realised that I would be standing for the journey back, so I made myself as comfortable and possible and got out a book. I moment later a couple more people got on and I had to shuffle over to make room, then a few more got on, then another one, then a couple of men with giant baskets of prawns. To my surprise the train set off with people hanging out of the ...
Galle, Sri Lanka alanjaques... pretty freaky, but the guy seemed ok. As it turns out he was Jag/s neighbour and he remembered seeing me at the wedding. He was on his way to a court hearing for his murdered cousin (yep, even more freaky). He told me a cousin of his came from Canada a few years ago and got in a Taxi at Delhi airport to come back to the Punjab. The Taxi driver murdered his cousin on route and dumped the body in a ditch somewhere along the ...
Colombo, Sri Lanka harvimalhiToday we take the bus back up the coast to Bentota. It takes about 3 hours and is somewhat a depressing journey; more so than the train we took down. The tsunami had a devastating effect of the west and south coast of Sri Lanka and even now more than two years later its evidence is still at large. Mass grave yards are scattered along the road side every few miles, they are like shrines covered in colourful flower garlands, bunting and pictures. However it's the graves in clusters of ...
