... Bay. There are rows and rows of tables on the beach. All the seafood is fresh and you get to pick your dinner victims. We had an awesome dinner of king prawns, squid and fish. Yum!
Early start to the airport
We had a 7am flight to Singapore, so had to get up quite early, and left the hotel at 5.30am, missing the great breakfast that they provided. We get to the airport, and half hour later, they announce that the flight is ...
... life seems to be taken here very seriously, almost Bali Disney without Mickey Mouse - give us back the happy Aussies any day of the week, the Russians are too busy wearing skimpy, skin tight shorts, flashing their money and giving you nasty looks if you are on the pool table when they want to go on!
Anyway we are off in an hour or so to our next destination - what will it have in store? Watch this space!
... female ratio was awful. No pulls.
Day 2
In the afternoon headed to the beach which was ok......also organised a surfing lesson which was awesome. Got a few knocks and scartches but all good......I think I have found a new interest! Also gave some becah chat for the first time......was sitting next to a girl from Java....beautiful and ended up having dinner together.....yellow fever!m Headed to the clubs once again and ...
... relaxing!!! Just what we wanted! As we had planned to leave Ubud that afternoon we were up with the sparrows and on the trail of some half decent bikes for hire so that we could go for a cycle round the place. We managed to hire some from the hotel and we were off! Sadly there isn't really much I can tell you about the surrounding countryside, it is unfortunately something which has to be seen rather than read about. All I can say is that if every country in the world had ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia chcolateman... begs the question as to why so many people are running around in flip flops and swimming trunks, carrying surf boards. There is no beach here!! It does have the additional million or so handicraft shops where I purchase two wooden traveller braceletty things. I have to do the obligatory haggling - why so much effort? Tanah Lot and some japanese Final stop of the day is Tanah Lot - the Hindu temple atop a cliff which is ideally ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia codownseanI spent my week long Spring Break in Bali!!! I absolutely loved it there! I think it is one of the best places I have ever been. I flew to Bali on Singapore Airlines, and I have to agree with what everyone says-it is the most amazing airline ever! They gave me ice-cream and a Wall Street Journal. Which one do you think I was more excited about? If you guessed ice-cream you were right! There were 8 of us who went, and we stayed ...
Bali, Indonesia lrhodes... This solution sure beat the Internet Café that we used before. We went to a cheap place (7,000 Rp/hour) that was empty (so we could use their entire bandwidth), but the PCs were old pieces of junk. They were running Windows XP with only 96 MBs of RAM (on the best machine they had) and had all kinds of junk software/malware running in the background. On top of that they over charged us (although only 500 Rp) because of the 10 seconds it took the supervisor to ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia aaronpolarbearRice is very important to the Balinese people - most families have their own paddy and a system for passing it down through the family. Here is Sherry overlooking the peaceful rice paddies in Ubud (picture #1). Much of Bali is terraced, with a careful system of water rationing, allowing one part to be in the planting stage, (#2) while other sections are in harvest (#3). Drying & turning the rice is still done by hand (by foot in the case in #4). Taking produce ...
Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia g60thomp... no way changed that; the point of JED is that villagers can maintain their traditional lifestyles and still benefit from tourist dollars by sharing their culture a few times a month. For a Westerner, walking through the streets and fields of Pelaga is like traveling back in time. Unlike at the plantation I visited in Guatemala, the coffee here is still processed entirely by hand. In Guatemala, the cherries were ...
Ubud, Indonesia sherwoodk... What a beautiful impressive island with wonderful opportunities for bargaining while you shop.
At Karangasem Palace we were welcomed with a traditional Bali dance performed by the beautiful ladies of the country while we were served coconut desserts and drinks. It was a relaxing way to enjoy our time in Bali. The attached home, not open to the public, is ...
