    October 12, Sunday Gorge, Waterfall and Antayla

    This morning we left (almost forgetting to pay for our dinner)!! Firstly, the bus took us to the Saklikent Gorge. It was a great gorge – we walked through it – Craig venturing further through the wet bits. Once again a lovely day weather wise.

    We also went to spend 20 minutes with Doctor Fish – where we put our feet into a tank and let the little fish ...

    ... walking around after lunch that we needed coffee and promptly stumbled onto a coffee shop filled with old men playing a type of rummy. Turkey is filled with coffee shops like this, but these men were awesome and taught us how to play without any English language. So we spent an hour or so with them having fun playing this game and drinking coffee. After a bit more wandering we headed to Akyaka, where we stayed that evening.     ... the madding crowd, wandered up the hill to the incredible roman theatre that could seat 12,000 people in its heyday and checked out the antique pools in transit. These ruins date from around 190 BC. Too much to tell you about - come and visit..... you won't regret it

    ... were from Perge and in startlingly perfect condition. There was also a row of heads that had been disconnected from their bodies through the years. I searched for Scholastia but in vain. Did find Asclepios however in all his glory. He was from the Asclepion Medical Centre earlier in the trip. The statue of Hercules is stunning as is his sarcophagus.
