Then today was our last day in Faistenau and it was a good day. It mostly stopped snowing and we had something exciting to do! The four hills tournament was on today in Bischofshofen so we drove there. ... Its called the Festung Hohensalzburg and its very impressive. We went in and first went on an audio tour around some of the castle such as the torture chamber, gun stations on a long corridor and up into one of the highest towers to look over the city. We also saw a giant horn type device which was apparently used to wake up the town at dawn for work and then tell them when to go to bed!

We climbed the tower of the church up to a viewing platform to look down onto city centre and the Neue Rathaus (New Town Hall) in the Marienplatz. At midday, a glockenspiel chimes and mechanical dancers in the Rathaus tower spin around to commemorate the relief from the plague that devastated population in the 1500s. We finally spotted Gasthof Lederer way up the hill and we were not disappointed! Right outside my window was a massive snow capped mountain with a babbling brook gushing past! Music to my ears! We unpacked , showered and went down to the restaurant for diner. The food was terriffic, the beer was cold, and the view was to die for! Our hosts gave us a "Hochkonig Card" which allowed us free ride up ...
