... kaffee" in a covered terrace with a spectacular view so high up above the city. I realize why I kept getting lost before. It would have been easy to get lost this time too, if I didn't tune into the fact that one section of access had been closed off due to stage construction readying for the Salzburg Festival which is set to begin this coming week. After breakfast we caught the local bus outside the hotel into Berchtesgaden (about 20 minutes) where we changed buses for Salzburg (about 45 minutes) and during this bus trip we left Germany for Austria. ... way. We have been eating a lot of pretzels.

For being such a long day, actually a series of long days, the girls have been real troopers. They are engaged, not on electronics, interested and very well behaved. While we are all tired, they really show no signs of slowing down.

Tomorrow is a little more serious as we are going to visit Dachau and Nuremberg. We then head to Berlin.
