It was hot and humid. "Simar" is a local term for these conditions. Muggy, I would say.

We cycled about 5Km from our campsite to the base of hill and the park entrance. The fee was a very reasonable 6TL each.

We walked up a steep, stony path for about 20 minutes. despite some creaking bones I was pleased the lungs didn't complain too much except when we were walking behind people who were smoking! ...

Cirali is a teeny tiny one gravelly road town down in a jungly area near the sea. There is a long pebble beach with the most pristine water that I won't even describe bercause you'd suffer a jealousy aneurism.  To get here, you need to take a mini bus (I found a single seat, so no man problems this time!) to a place on the side of the road where a dolmus (a small local bus) sits waiting for enough people for it to be worth the drive down the hill ...

    Day 14

Well, the name of our accommodation may have been Bayrams Treehouse, but we were definitely on the ground, albeit in very rustic digs!

Olympos is definitely the most laid back destination of our trip. A small village, set in a valley and popular with the back packer set, Olympos was once an important Lycian city in the 2nd century BC, the remains of which line the 1.5 km track down to the beach. (We are realising that the term ...

    ... works.

The concept of bypassing towns has not caught on much in Turkey and every settlement is a series of traffic lights that slow down the journey hugely.

Many of the lights have a countdown timer showing how many seconds to the next change. Most Turkish drivers treat this as an opportunity to practice their Formula 1 starts, and many would incur time penalties ...
