... not only because of her Bolshie qualities . I am so glad I took a guided tour rather than wandering through such an amazing place on my own. I would never have understood the meaning behind what I was looking at. I wished people could have shut up like they were supposed to in the Sistine Chapel. Sadly photos inside the chapel prohibited but I doubt my happy snaps could do it justice anyway. Most memorable was the Pieta. Couldn't stop looking at it. ...

Early start, 7.40, at first light but Chiara decided she wanted to follow the official signs rather than my book's instructions. Some discussion followed. Chiara then got confirmation that her route was correct by flagging down a passing car. Essentially asking if the road led to Rome. Amazingly, it did. A slightly better question might have been "Is this the shortest route to Rome?" because we ended up walking for 4 miles to get 2 ...

... it up with bread. We shared a plate of grilled vegetables, (I ate them all) and we both loved this lunch, we also had a 1/2 bottle of vino Rossi la casa and a macchiato for me. Plus service charge, it came to €24, a bargain!

... the long queue buying tickets and went straight through the barriers. The Colosseum was huge and during the days of its Gladiator combats and wild animal fights it used to fit 55,000 spectators. After a while there we decided to head back towards our train station via the Trevi Fountain (which was packed with people!) where you can throw your coin in and make a wish. ... is well first they frigging fly by in the left lane.....you only use it to pass....then go into right lane....what a concept. What can't idiots in North America figure this out...its not hard. ..... anyways they do an interesting thing as they pass you....and I am in the left part of my lane as Mike is flyin echelon on my right. Almost any car that passed would slide to the right as they passed....like a few inches away.....bizzare.....so you get a blast ...
