    ... and sure enough a taxi emerged. A furious battle began between the taxi driver and I. His starting ask price was 200egp and my bid was 20egp. There were raised voices, vigorous hand gestures, staring into whites of eyes and some walking away. He made me walk 100m away from him before he drove up to me and very grumpily agreed to 40egp.     ... with the usual bunch of insomnia masochists. We attended 3 lectures this morning. The first was by the aviation lecturer Ian Smith on Aden and South Arabia. He had worked in the area as a flight engineer in the years preceding the British withdrawal in 1967 and was able to show us photographs taken at that time of some of the places we had visited.
