We have made it through Birmingham security after some very tearful goodbyes and are now enjoying a drink in the bar (courtesy of Han and Dug). For those of you we haven't bored to death over the past 10 months with the details of our trip, the vague plan is to spend a few days when we arrive in Auckland sourcing a beautiful little campervan. We will then hit the road and head south, stopping off at the hot spa pools ...

... to the top left along the banks of the river. There was plenty of activity with joggers, cyclists and 4 man and. 8 man boats from the local boat club sculling up and down . The weather had been really kind to us, and with no wind the temperature was really warm as the sun set. We had a light sandwich. ( after our large lunch) for evening meal (great salad garnish ! ) in a local pub before retiring back to our posh drapers hall boutique ...

... a train. A big farm tractor was pulling a single coach which could seat several dozen passengers, four abreast.

It was a slow ride up a steep hill and through a beautiful forest. And then we slowly rode down another steep hill back to the station.

It wasn't a guided tour or anything like that. The tractor driver simply drove, and we simply enjoyed looking at the trees. Occasionally we passed someone who had hiked up on foot from ...

... to Preston, turning down the M6 for a short way the turning off we headed across country via Chester, into Wales via Wrexham, Oswestry and finally arrived three hours later at Shrewsbury. With the roof down on the BMW and a sunny 22 degrees it was a great journey. Our hotel for the two nights is a 16 th century inn with only 4 boutique rooms. We are staying in the lime suite !!! ... pies this last few days.... Popped in to see my dad and had a walk through the village on our way to widnes. Lovely to catch up with aunt and cousin.....luke.... And a dog called ozzie who sniffed everything. Please keep your eye on the bay of biscay....... We've heard it can be stormy and oz are preparing for it. I am sure it will be a mill pond.
