New place new friends. Fortaleza was cool because right when I got there we went out. Some Chileans brought a big bottle of pisco and before you know it we all were riding happy on the way to pink elephant. It's a popular expensive night club they have here in Brazil. Anyways the next several days it was pretty much the same. Fortaleza to me seems a little rough and unsafe. I'll admit I had a good time here and my portuguese is getting ...

... hours away. The only way to get to this village is by 4x4 as the last hour or so of the drive is just along sand dunes,so it's a pretty isolated place. We checked in to pousada Vento Leste - a little bit of luxury and chilled round the pool (as the only guests were another couple it was pretty much ours) enjoying some 30 degree heat again. Headed into town (a sandy road with a collection of restaurants and shops) for a bite to eat accompanied by some live acoustic ...

A travel blog entry by andyhill on Jun 26, 2014

Travelled to Fortaleza today, has been a rough day.. Our flight from Manaus to Forteza had one stop over in Belen however we didn't have to leave the plane which was so mint. We also bumped into Simon Harrison, a dude that went to Uni in Wellington. He was travelling with his family and was randomly on the same airport leaving at the same time and on the same plane as ...

... to the queue. It made for some conversation on the bus with a bunch of Canadian fans anyways... That evening we headed out to a place recommended as good food. As did most other people in Fortaleza it seems. So moving on we found a pizzeria and snagged a table after waiting a few minutes that people had left and the waiters had still to clean and meant we weren't shoved to the back of the queue! A bit of food, no beer and bed. Done. The next day we met ...

      Hostel of Terror

A travel blog entry by tholdsworth89 on Jun 18, 2014

Between the four of us we've stayed in one or two hostels across the world (or just Manchester in Lew's case), but none of those past experiences could've prepared us for what awaited in the centre of Fortaleza. To say there was a contrast between our two lots of accommodation in the city is an understatement. We were actually quite hopeful about the big TV screen, barbeque and cheap beer that had been promised at Hostel Terra da Luz, but when we arrived on the Sunday it felt as though ...
