Class Hotel Ravenna

We are on our last day in Rimini, and we're both quite glad of it. Not that we haven't had a good time (though the hostel has been a bit rubbish).

The journey down here from Munich was a real slog! It took 8 hours, though that didn't really bother us too much. 8 hours of discomfort on a cramped Italian train however, that was what made it difficult. It was a compartment style train (6 seat per compartment, 3 on each side facing each other) which seemed great when we first sat down ...

... Why am I willingly subjecting myself to this – is it for fun?? Is this pleasurable??

But it somehow is. Being here has challenged my definition of pleasure, fulfillment, contribution, contentment. I've concluded that , in part, the key is through examination and learning to understand what it is that brings us these things - and - to be open to surprises. Sometimes I think we find what we're looking for it in the strangest places...

... and periodically kneading my leg into his perfect little bed! (ouch - stupid cat! lol!) The resident's rooster takes his job very seriously and has been singing his alarm since about 5 this morning - and my view is of beautiful lush vegetation - rolling hills and vineyards, orchard fields and gardens.

D** Abend am Lago di Trasimeno war sehr angenehm und ruhig - nicht einmal die Eisenbahn haben wir gehört - die ziemlich nah am Platz vorbeifährt.
Haben beschlossen diesmal zu kochen . Einkauf beim Lidl und danngings los. Die Arbeiten waren gleich v**teilt.

Across the road was the Official Rossi Fan Club headquarters and we strolled in to see his bike which he won the 125’s on and lots of career photos. We joined the fan club for 40 Euros each which gave us a t-shirt,cap and bumbag and keyring. The people there also gave us posters hearing we had come from Australia and been to the races. We were stoked ...

Okay, so here is the much promised and much delayed update to the blog. I can't believe I'm coming to the end of my second week here! Ravenna is really beautiful ( ) and the people here are super friendly and I've been finding my Italian improving almost daily. Although of course not in time enough to avoid certain miscommunications - I was discussing with my host mother, Paola, and her son Marco about the economy ...

... it's molto difficile.) while flouncing around today, i bought a ticket for the opera tomorrow night. it was a total impulse buy, but the ****** seats for students were not expensive and i am actually pretty jazzed about going. in other news, i have been giving my quaint little 10-minute talks in the museum, and next week i have to give a 30-minute talk for the first time. which reminds me, i should be studying. will talk to all of you soon!!
