... no cars. Nice snorkelling tho and can cycle round the island in one dayso will probably get a bike hire too. Been warned of great white sharks off the coast of rottness tho so will need my wits about me, you only live once tho! Im not about to let a wee shark put me off exploring the reef!! Paid too much money for that! (Reef sharks there too, but they scared of us, pffft)
PPS. Found a German called Clint who may chip in on the car and come along the journey with us.
... to recharge stuff (mostly me but some electrical appliances too). I got chatting to a guy from Perth who was en route from LA through Sydney to Perth and rerouted via Brisbane due to a major dust storm that covered Sydney and it's airport. Funnily enough the guy's son worked as a Soil Tech for Main Roads.
Eventually it was time to fly. A bloody long walk through the terminal, a short cut through the queue (FF again) and on the plane. I was a little worried cos the seats ...
... of the first day was spent in port offloading and then loading cargo and at 7am on the 22nd we left dock and headed off, Australia here I come!...well not quite. I soon noticed after we left dock that instead of continuing to head south we started to head east before cutting back north! It was only when I was called to the bridge to give the Captain my passport that I was informed that we were going to Johor Port in Malaysia first, so back to Malaysia it was ...
Perth, Western Australia, Australia richardlodge... scheduled port of call was to be Caversham Wildlife Park, and the chance to mingle with antipodean mammals. Having been given instructions relating to only using backs of the hand, the chance to stroke Koalas presented itself. Yes they were soft, albeit not cuddly, but oh so lethargic- apparently spending some twenty plus hours a day sleeping- and we were obviously not the most popular of fellow living creatures for having ...

Perth , Western Australia, Australia taran.holiday... I have now totally got over my fear of snorkeling and fish. How brave am I. More driving, if you're bored reading this, just feel sorry for me having to sit on a coach down roads with nothing to look at for hours on end. We had finally reached Exmouth. This is the place where people go snorkeling with Whale Sharks from about April - July/Aug. A couple of sharks had already been spotted. Can't say i was brave enough to swim with a 12m ...
Perth, Australia sarahsammyThe flight from Singapore was a quick and comfortable affair, and as we began our departure we caught our first glimpses of Australia. The sun was just beginning to rise, leaving a glowing red strip across the outback's horizon, it was really beautiful (I am aware I sound like a big girl). As we were coming into land we were concerned about the lack of civilisation, all we could see for miles was outback; desert, trees and the odd farm, where the hell was Perth? The plane ...

Perth, Western Australia, Australia ronia... fact it has not closed for a single day since it opened back in 1898. Perth Zoo provides a beautiful natural haven. As an 'oasis' within the city, it attracts numerous species of wild birds. Local wild Australian Pelicans have also been known to nest here. Carnaby's Cockatoos and Corellas are also regular and noisy visitors to the Zoo grounds. The animal collection is diverse, comprising around 200 ...
