JV Girls: after some gift swapping and Pre game prayer...the girls had a good game and came away with a good win: they looked amazing in their pink tie die! Great to see them all play together and as I have never personally seen majority of these athletes play, was Super impressed! The Jv girls are now sitting here watching the Varsity girls play and socialise with the local ...

Well the 'Cat's outa the bag'...

A travel blog entry by dkoste01

... br> Having said all that, we seem to be having an excellently crazy time making the effort. Many are the moments we fall into each other's arms ...at the end of an ordeal, or the end of a long day, and just breath deeply and gratefully. I look into Debbie's eyes and see a happy person ...and that makes it all worthwhile.

May every one of you be so blessed to feel the love of God in this way.

Rod's Raven Rock Hike

A travel blog entry by jmpncsu

11

This morning I went with Rod Broadbelt to hike at Raven Rock State Park. I was a little late arriving at the park due to construction on NC-55 driving down there, so as soon as I arrived, we headed out on the Campbell Creek Loop Trail. Starting the hike, I was at the back of the group, since I arrived late and as we reached the footbridge about half a mile in, the people ahead of me turned left, so I followed. In the back of my mind, I thought ...

It's looking a little bare around here

A travel blog entry by dkoste01

... why.

No, we do not have an apartment yet in Cuenca. I forgot to mention that we are going to start out in Cuenca, instead of Vilcabamba. Although Vilca is tugging at our heartstrings, we feel that for my dad's sake we need to start out in a larger city with more medical facilities until we know how he is going to react to Ecuador. Cuenca is a medical tourism destination for Americans and is known for excellent medical and dental care at about ...

Nothing to Write Home About, But Not Bad Either

    from karebear1981

I stayed one night in Raliegh, to be closer to the Amtrak Station. The hotel staff was friendly and let me check in early. The room was a good size, lots of TV channels (since there isn't much to do in Raleigh) and the bed comfortable.

The restaurant at the hotel is a little overpriced and the food isn't all that great. Unfortunately, there's nowhere else to eat close by. Meh, the area is safe and my room was clean and air conditioned. This is a good place to stay for a couple nights, especially if you have to be at the train station early in the morning.

    Breakfast at

    from anonymous

Breakfast for my family of four and three friends was almost funny-

We were the only people there w/exception of a few couples.

After viewing buffet -we decided to order from menu.

It appeared that we were the waiters first customer-

it took 30-40 minuts toget our food.Food was cold-

we ate what we could and left and vowed never to return

    What a stay!

    from anonymous

I have just returned from my first stay at a Clarion Hotel. The room was spacious but the bathroom area is a little small. If you have to take medicine that has to be refrigerated I would not recommend this hotel because you have know way of keeping your medicine cold except in an ice bucket. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The only problem in the whole trip was when someone broke into our truck toolbox and stole my husband's tools while parked in the hotels parking garage. When picking a hotel that is the first information I look for. How safe is it for me and my belongings. Other than that the trip was a blast.

    Stay away

    from anonymous

This hotel is very very bad. As of this writing, the hotel has only one escalator working, and the hotel management does not even bother to post a note letting guests know that it is broken. The floor is filthy, the room is dirty, the parking is tough and filthy. We had to stay there because the wedding party is family member, otherwise, we would never stay here.

    Please don't ever stay here.....

    from anonymous

My first mistake was not reading the reveiws on this property. I have also heard this is the same way at other Clarions. I have written the fire department to let them know of what I think would certainly be fire hazards. This hotel closed both elevators at the same time. They directed us to a service elevator (extremely nasty). When the door opened up on the floor we needed there were folding cots stacked in front of the way so we couldn't get out. We went to another floor and finally found one we could get off. We were going to walk down the steps. When you open the door to the stairwell there was chicken wire and when you looked down you were looking into a shaft (black hole). I should have known when the continential breakfast was so bad we couldn't eat it. I must say that some of the staff tried to be nice but the manager asked me if I had anything else to say to her and she walked off with not even a sorry. If your interested in having a bad experience and put your family in risk of stomach problems or fires then stay here otherwise please don't do it. Oh, yes I forgot the hairs on the shower walls. Must I say more...

    Improved look

    from anonymous

The hotel has a new improved look with high speed internet access and a new business and fitness center.

Much brighter in public areas and the rooms are renovated.

I look forward to the Restaurant and Lounges new look also

    Forgetable Experience

    from anonymous

My family and I recently spent two nights at this motel. Upon reaching our room, we found it to be filthy. The AC made a horrible noise, not to mention it didn't produce any air at all. The carpet was dirty and sticky. The walls had cobwebs and mold in various places. The sheets had holes and the beds were uncomfortable. The bathrooms were another story...there was hair in the sink and the bathtub and the toilet wouldn't flush. On top of all this, the room smelled like urine. I wasn't really sure if the elevator would reach its destination. Take my advice...I wouldn't recommend anyone staying here.

    Look, but don't stay

    from anonymous

If I could give this place NO stars, I would. Drive by and look at it if you want, but never, never, never - every - stay here. Unless, of course, you happen to like inattentive and/or abuse front desk staff, rooms that were maybe clean 30 years ago, and a restaurant where serving something called food seems to be a complete mystery to the staff. Our experience there started out bad and went downhill from there. We were booked for a week but left after 2 nights of broken promises and indifferent service. Maybe this was a class act 30-40 years ago when it was built, but now it is just a shell that should either be gutted and rebuilt or demolished. Or it could be used as a training ground for how not to run a supposed 3-star hotel. If you need to stay anywhere in downtown Raleigh, pick someplace else. Anyplace else. A park bench would be a step up from this place; at least the homeless people who hang around the hotel are polite!

Booked four nights, checked out after one!!

    from anonymous

Having arrived from the UK after a 9 hour flight, we checked into this hotel at around 5.30pm. The room we were allocated was not exactly clean - hairs around the bathtub edges, mold on the walls and a toilet seat that I was scared to use. We were advised there were no other rooms available as they had a conference, and the cleaners would not be available until the morning. We had also not received the travel cot we requested for our 18 month son. We enquired at reception and were told it would be brought to our room shortly. We went out for dinner and on our return found no travel cot. It was now 8.30pm. To cut a long story short, it took until 10.45pm to receive the travel cot - way too late to be of any use to our child who we had to improvise a bed for as he was exhausted. Our night was not a pleasant experience. The AC unit made a horrendous noise so we could not use that, and the temperature in June was stifling. Add to that the noise of freight trains passing nearby and the frequent sirens - this hotel clearly had little soundproofing. We went to reception in the morning to voice our complaints but they seemed pretty disinterested - so we checked out and cancelled our remaining three nights. Basically, I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me.

    PARDON OUR PROGRESS?

    from anonymous

Despite having a prime location, this property leaves just about everything else to be desired. Though we were made aware of the construction in progress upon our arrival, we were not informed that our room was directly below the work area, and our stay was disrupted by incessant noise. As a result, we were unable to sleep, and the staff provided no assistance. Though construction is certainly needed to improve this property, shouldn't that be possible without causing such intolerable discomfort and inconvenience for guests? Another room must have been available in a twenty-story hotel that was practically vacant on the night of our stay. Why were guests placed in rooms adjacent to work areas where the noise created such a disturbance that sleep was impossible? Due to our dismal experience, we would not return to this hotel, nor would we recommend it to anyone else visiting in this area.
