Day 22 - Gatlingburg - Tennessee
... NSW, on a larger scale accompanied by a lot of bible bashing and patriotism. The problem is that I'm neither a devoted god loving Christian nor am I American, but the majority were and they are the target market. I went to two different shows, one gospel the other country (or hillbilly) and in both the order went God, then veterans, then God bless America, with a hand on the heart standing ovation for an anthem style ...
Day 21 - Gatlinburg - Tennessee
One last stop before I bid Kentucky farewell and that was at Daniel Boone National Forest to see the Cumberland Falls. In 1775 Daniel Boone led a group of men through the Cumberland Gap (a pass between the Appalachian Mountains) to widen the pass in order to make settlement into Kentucky and Tennessee easier. The area has since been named after him and includes the Cumberland Falls. Then it was time ...
Bagel stop!

Beautiful time of year to be visiting!
While we were in Gatlinburg, Talia and I took a walk down the tourist main street/corridor in the evening while Tony and the younger girls swam in the pool at our lodge/hotel that they thought was AMAZING, because it was 70's style (according to Tony) with rock ledges, and 9 ft. deep areas of the pool.
A big highlight during our stay was getting to ...
Boogerman Trail
Sunday morning, we woke up and packed up camp as soon as possible to get in a nice hike before heading back home. We moved our cars to the trailhead for Caldwell Fork & Boogerman Trails hiked across the first of many footbridges. Hiking on the Caldwell Fork Trail, we passed the first turn for Boogerman Trail. I had hiked this trail in March and two of the bridges were out requiring stream crossing and ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Clarion Inn & Suites Gatlinburg
This hotel is a rip off!!!
I made reservations for a penthouse and was quoted a price for 3 nights HOWEVER this was the price for one night! The price was over $600.00 and the room was not even worth $200.00! This hotel is the biggest ripoff in Gatlinburg. Do not stay there!!!!
Nice Hotel, Staff a little rude
This is a nicely maintained hotel, and while not upscale, is certainly clean and confortable. We had a problem with our room and it was handled effecitvely by the maintenance crews. The only complaint I would have is that they need additional customer service training for their morning front desk staff. One lady in particular was downright rude, and this was upon check-in. We considered cancling our reservation and going elsewhere. Nice hotel with some personnel issues.
Nice Hotel
I love the Smoky's!!! Prices can be high! hotel is clean , safe and nicely decorated. My husband and I visit the Smoky's 3-4 times a year for quick get-away. Since this hotel is farther down the main strip it is quiet. And I like the closer entry to the park. I am pleased with hotel and would stay here again . I have stayed here 3 times in last 2 Look for on line dicounts for this hotel.Mountain Fairy
Lovely hotel
In my opinion, this is the nicest hotel in Gatlinburg. The rooms were clean, comfortable and with balconies. The staff, including security, were exceptionally nice. Located near stop light 10, it is approximately 1 block to Ober Gatlinburg where you can ski during the winter or play games, ride go-karts, and putt putt year round and 1 block to the entrance of the Smoky Mountains. Restaurants are all around and you can easily walk to where all the action is.
I was very pleased
Their "Platinum" rating is well deserved. I am an extremely picky person and was quite pleased with this hotel. First of all it was very clean, including everything from the sidewalks, parking lot, lobby, hallways, elevators, and of course the room. While in the room, I wore white "footies" and they did not become black from walking on the carpeting. Next, the room was attractively decorated and well furnished. It included a fridge/microwave, iron/board, sofa/extra chair and a balcony. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Lastly the hotel was conveniently located near great restaurants, shopping, a market and the mountains.
Regulars at Clarion
My husband and I visit the Smokies every year, we aways stay at the Clarion, it is a bit pricey, but the nicest hotel in downtown Gatlinburg. Worth the Stay!!!
Great location!
Very nice hotel. Friendly staff, and great location. You are right in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg. The pool was not very clean though. Everything else was very nice!
Good
Rooms were clean and breakfast was good. I was unhappy with the pool needs to be clean more often by professionals, if you use your goggles to see the bottom of the pool you would understand. Don't want gross anyone. They need better lighting in that pool area. One light does not cut it.
What a GREAT place!
This was a great place to stay!! The staff at the front desk was so pleasant and helpful. They even called the room about 30 mins after we checked in! The room was nice and clean and the baclony was nice. Great location, we walked everywhere!! I will defintely stay here next year!!
A favorite of ours
Wonderful place to stay. Right in downtown Gatlinburg. Leave your car parked at the hotel and walk to everything. Nice clean rooms. Very updated compaired to most of the motels in downtown Gatlinburg. We stay there about 4 times per year. Price is reasonable for the top quality.
