Stockholm Arlanda, Stockholm County, Sweden snurrasI concluded my 2 month adventure with a 2 day visit to Anna's aunt Birgitta in Leksand, which is in the traditional Dalicarlian region of Sweden. I should note we had a small delay on the train ride up to Leksand since the train hit a moose, which apparently isn't that uncommon here. Birgitta has been the best host up here taking me around and cooking us the best meals (in fact I have to get ...
Leksand, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden danwstephens... a great time. I hope that my first time meeting them is not my last. I managed to catch the right bus, and even get off at the right stop. The streets seemed very different late at night, walking down them alone. I saw the biggest frog in the world, and it scared the **** out of me! At two I stumbled back into bed, thankful that I didn't have to wake up early to pack my stuff for Stockholm the next day.
Gävle, Gävleborgs Län, Sweden mcphailc... hours later, I decided to get ready for the day. It had rained over the past few hours, and when I opened my window to let some air in and turned away, I heard a very disgruntled "meow' behind me. It turned out that Molly, the cat, had been stuck outside in the rain, and she was not happy. I let her in, and jumped around trying to stop her from drying herself off on my legs.

I eventually walked over to Carina's, in the rain, and from there decided to bike ...
Gävle, Gävleborgs Län, Sweden mcphailc... but as I thought about it, the scene that they put in with all of the people raising their wands over the body in respect. The only thing that really bugged me over the movie was the last scene, in which Ron said nothing at all. He was just sitting there in the back, saying nothing. It just came off as a little strange.

Later that night, as things calmed down a little bit from all of the packing that was going on, Sofie, Annika and I decided to watch a film and then hit the hay.
Gävle, Gävleborgs Län, Sweden mcphailc... Not that it didn't sound good, but it was all that expensive stuff that was just a little too fancy for us. We decided that maybe we would have a cheaper mea, getting a wrap for a coffee place and filling up on candy from the duty free shop for the rest of the night. After the wraps, which were quite delicious, we decided to go watch the ship make its way though the Archipelago. It was beautiful as we slowly passed though all of the tiny islands on our way to the ...
Gävle, Gävleborgs Län, Sweden mcphailc... the mall, but I just could not contain my excitement. Such good sale prices, and amazing clothing. I must have spent so much money that first day in the mall, I think that I may have lost my mind for the few hours that I was in the mall, I took a large chunk out of my spending money budget that day.

I also found that any jet lag that I thought I would have didn't exist, a bonus when trying to get the most out of every day in a trip that much to short.
Gävle, Gävleborgs Län, Sweden mcphailc... outside of Stockholm, up through Uppsala and we stopped "somewhere" outside of Gävle. Our first night of camping in the woods was looking rather hopeless, as we were unable to find spots where we could put up our tent. Here in Sweden, you are allowed to pitch up your tent anywhere in the forest, as long as it is not on someone's backyard. Sweden is very green, and the percentage of forest over here is rather large, so it was unlikely for us not to be able ...
Gävle, Sweden samira_steve... to bad American hip-hop, but then suddenly this magic door opened up, upstairs and Schlager music (cheery ABBA-esque sort of music) blasted out! It was like a magnetic force that pulled these Swedes upwards and the dead party came to life with people dancing like there was no tomorrow, until the place had to close at 2am (yes, they have lame closing hours here too.) Too bad I can't post audio clips on this site :-(
Uppsala, Sweden danwstephens... Fortunately at the end of the evening I took this water retention pill that Swedes use to mitigate hangovers and voila it worked! I didn't have a hangover. I love Sweden! Today Anna prepared a traditional Swedish smorgasboard, consisting of several scrumptious types of salmon, herring, and of course the mandatory potatoes. It was so good. I wish I could eat like this everyday back in NY!
