Home again
Arrived home yesterday afternoon after a long day of travel. We left the ship in Amsterdam and 5:30 am (11:30pm Eastern). Because of fog in Paris we were delayed an hour, so instead of two hours to change planes we had about 50 minutes. We had to change terminals and of course go through security again. We got to the gate just as they were boarding. There is only one flight a day from Paris to Pittsburgh so I was REALLY glad ...

Vanaf de berg welke we met het kabeltreintje beklommen, hadden we goed uitzicht op de rivieren. De Monongahela en de Allegheny rivieren komen hier bij elkaar en vormen samen de Ohio. In Pittsburgh was vroeger veel staal industrie, de grote oude gietemmers vind je nu nog terug als straat meubilair. ...

... 37 bucks to get from Chicago to Pittsburgh ... mostly for roads in Indiana and Ohio where we didn't even stop - except to pay tolls! Do these people not know that this money could be better spent elsewhere? ... for example, lunch out at the Belgian beer bar ... somewhere it'll make a real difference to the US economy.

Day 1: getting outta the T-dot
... about Fallingwater was the young, charming-yet-intensely-awkward teenage guide we had through the tour. He tried to tell jokes but he had an incredably flat tone of voice that his jokes just kinda hung there. He would take us to the next room in the house & then end his spiel saying "Any Questions?" in a challenging (yet flat) tone of voice that said you better not ask any questions.
