... when it is clear>

The Tourist Office explained that today would be the clearest in the morning, meaning that it would be a good day to go up in the cable car to a neighbouring mountain to get a good view of all of Tromso from above. Whilst up there we saw the peak of the mountain and thought that we would give it a go at making it to the summit. This took us a good 3 hours there and back, but was amazing. We saw a group of Reindeer ...
Tromsø, North Norway, Norway ktandash... beer.

Departing Tromso, the coastal express route is sheltered by islands. to the east, the country develops into one of Norway's most impressive mountain ranges - the Lyng Alps. It becomes apparent that nearly every building between here and Kirkenes is new - well, new as of post 1945. |There is a similar theme in terms of design and structure.

During the winter of 1944/45, when the German Army of the North was in full retreat, Hitler gave carte blanche to ...

Tromsø, Troms, Norway cristinaw... sun had gone down. Upon arrival they dressed us in some absolutely enormous jumpsuits.. the type Elvis would have worn toward the end of his career. These were special snowproof suits designed for the sub zero conditions we were experiencing, and although they made us look like rejects from ABBA kept us cosy and dry for the whole night. We were taken out the back where over 300 huskies were kenneled. They are possibly the lovliest dogs on the face of the planet, and are bred ...
Tromsø, North Norway, Norway jimborussellArrived in Tromso at about 1730 and went to the Radisson to ask about the airport bus, when the first one was and when the last one was. Last one was at 8pm and the girl said that the airport shuts at 1am. We decided to go for a wander and ask a second opinion. We found reasonably priced cabins for the night out at the campground and called the taxi to find out how much ...
Tromsø, North Norway, Norway leahandgregWhat an amazing day!. We were picked up at 07.00 and then embarked on a 1 and a half hour drive into the mountains. There were two other people and then two guides with us. We geared up and then headed off on a hike up to the glacier. The hike itself was beautiful and we hiked for about 10 km before getting to the glacier. We then stopped for lunch ...

Tromsø, North Norway, Norway lea-and-danArrived in Tromso after the short flight from Svalbard to arrive in the warm climate of northern Norway. If any of the readers do decide to travel to Svalbard make sure you get a window seat, preferably not next to the wing and be amazed at the mountains and glaciers below. Unfortunately i wasn't so lucky. Tromsø lies just off the Arctic Ocean at nearly 70 degrees N latitude, still 400km north of the Arctic Circle but has a pleasant summer climate thanks to ...
