Bakersfield, California, United States sewyToday we drove into Sacramento so that I could see the capitol. It was even prettier than I expected it to be--not as impressive as Denver's, but more old-world like Montgomery. On our way out of town we saw an old steam engine train crossing the main street. It looked as if it carried tourists--I managed to get a photo. We ...
Bakersfield, California, United States lisajagminHow quickly things change without even leaving yet. Due to the heat, we decided to split the original first day's trip into two. First night we are staying at http://www.oasislasvegasrvresort.com Yes, I know it's roughing it (they only have 20 cable channels), but it beats driving ten hours on the first day.

We have been planning our "epic" trip across the West for some time ...
Bakersfield, California, United States dridleyAfter driving all morning we arrived back home this afternoon. Got to talk to the neighbors about the local happenings. The lawn is looking sad, overgrown and brown, I'm sure our local watchdog is not very happy with us. Oh well I clean up next week. For now I’ve got to finish up the work I brought home and we leave for Santa Barbara tomorrow for a couple of days.
Bakersfield, California, United States miss.chris... found that we did need the declaration form so called Nate. He had just received the completed forms by e-mail so he forwarded them on to me. I left the embassy and found a Kinko's, parked in a parking structure and ran in. The manager was so helpful, she had me e-mail her the messages from Nate using my phone, and then she printed them up. Unfortunately the last form printed on 4 pages, in the center. The manager had the idea that I should cut the forms out, tape them ...
Bakersfield, California, United States miss.chris... day, so a sort out and list was developed to maybe assist with the onslaught of the outlet shopping. We headed out to the Outlet centre and arrived just after opening time, (what a surprise!) A fair amount of confusion became apparent, the shops didn't look the same, in fact it threw doubt as to if we were in the correct place. Never mind they are outlet shops! We all set off with some purpose, (or one of the party ...
Bakersfield, California, United States popusa2008... and Dad head off to Furnace Creek Resort (where we will eat lunch) and check out the Borax Museum. That visit ultimately ends in a few family jokes which you can asks us about one day, but not for publication on the world wide web. And why is it that the whole world conspires against you when you have deadlines? Time to make it to the hotel for the football was disappearing at a rapid rate and the staff at the local cafe were on super slow time. But ...
Bakersfield, California, United States cdcass... went out and blew past his (and my) pb with a 162...that guy can fly when he needs to! I jumped very consistently in the high 150s with a top score of 159, not bad for moderately easy doubles at 34/5.5. We also had a very intense drunk wiffleball game at night Mens and Womens I vs Mens and Womens II, we got our asses kicked! Then came regionals...Ansel, me, and John (he stayed with Ansel and I to coach the week before). It was an awesome weekend. Tons of cool ...
Bakersfield, California, United States brettski... our motel room-it was my first in months. We had Queen size beds, a TV, a bath-it was amazing! Disney was fun, we didn't have that long there but we did all the stuff we wanted to and we stayed to watch the fireworks which was incredible. It's Disneyland's 50th anniversary in California and they've done a display in time to all the themes from the rides-it's hard to explain but it was amazing. The perfect end to our stay in LA.
Los Angeles, United States jen2102... really pump oxygen into the air to keep everyone awake? Free beer whilst gambling doesn't help the search for the way out. There are a lot of people in expensive restaurants who can't use a knife and fork properly. If this place had sprung up at home there would have been an uproar, but local people here consider it a wonderful place with 'all those pretty lights'. Arizona Now this is the start of 'real' Indian territory. We cruised in armed with the PC phrase of 'Native ...
