... on to Malmo to where the new Oresund Bridge, built in 2000, connects Sweden with Denmark for the first time since the ice age! We decided to spend the night in Malmo and to cover Denmark the next day as it was getting on towards evening and as of yet, we had not found a place to wash any clothes. We stopped at the Comfort Inn, in Malmo, which although small, clean and barebones, offered not only a ...

Malmö, Skåne Län, Sweden clemetlaura... I am planning a 5-6 month trip.... To places I am not 100% sure I even heard the name of before, well that's not strictly true, but I did not have a clue of the locations of Tonga, Samoa and Cook islands. Still don't in fact, this is where the unorganised bit comes in. Even went and got the lonely planet guides but they reamin unopened on my kitchen table.... It is not that I am not interested, it is just that it all feels too ...
Malmö, Skåne, Sweden sussieThe next day we slept in again as well, of course kristen is with us, and it was a very good day to rest and lay around the house. We packed our stuff getting ready for our trip to Stockholm the next day. Also preparing for the evening party ahead of us, our first Swedish cray fish party. At elin's dads's house where we stayed she described to us what happens at the party as well as what we do. She said there is a game we play that is a lot like baseball. It was raining too much ...
Malmö, Sweden msborje... an open house at the church!...which nobody attended). Oh well, after the concert where we were all pre-gamed enough to get down and dance in a crowd afterwards, we all chanted "one more song" and they kept going but reminded us that "some of them had to work the next day" haha. The next morning, I woke up at the crack of 11am, and headed to the train station. Unfortunately, I was 1 kroner short (about $.15) and had to ride back into town and then back to ...
Copenhagen, Denmark conman... cool looking too. Though stuffed still pretty mean looking. Mats (Staffan's Dad) wants to have one for their housewarming party, I dig it. Roasted pig always a plus to a party. Further on we saw many tiny displays of animals from snakes, lizard, poison arrow frogs, flying squirrels, and bats. They also had tanks full of fish that inhabit local Swedish waters and lakes...helping me further know what we are eating for dinner. Haha. Good fish. The scariest ...
Malmö, Skåne, Sweden vcruz14/5-15/5 Now for our final destination in Denmark, Copenhagen. This is a lovely city, and probably one of my favorite big cities so far. It's a big city with a small city vibe. The buildings are lovely and it is set on a clean blue harbor. We stayed at a camp site about 9kms out from the city centre, and on the first afternoon we road in for a quick look around. We had asked the campsite lady if the road to the city was hilly, and she laughed and said ...
Copenhagen, Denmark laine... that the wooden portal with the "Christiania" inscription on it found itself right there. Christiania was founded in 1971, when many people from different backgrounds began to take over an area of recently abandoned military barracks together as a protest against the Danish government. At the time many people in the larger Danish cities felt betrayed by the politicians, as they believed there was a lack of affordable housing. The inhabitants of the surrounding ...
Copenhagen, Denmark the_wayfarer... But our whole room is decked out in lots of Ikea furniture and looks much classier than it should. The common room is all fancy looking too...compared to anything at Oberlin. I haven't really seen any of Copenhagen yet. Mostly I've been commuting to and from the school for Orientation which hasn't been all that useful. Basically reiterating pamphlets I've already read ...
Copenhagen, Denmark sarahindenmark... found a restaurant we thought was the right place, but it wasn't open on Sundays, so we ended up at a cafe at the end of the street. The food at the restaurant was good, but I think Reky enjoyed the view of our hot waitress more than anything else! The conversation at supper was also fantastic, and all in all it was a great end to a great day. After supper we headed back to the meeting spot and were bussed back to the hostel. At the hostel we all hung out ...
