Storgata 3 Bodø, Nordland, North Norway, Norway, 8006, 7554-6100
... Interestingly enough, we should enjoy the moderating influences of the Gulf Stream even as far north at 70 degrees latitude. The one exception will be when the Nordkapp sails into Vadso, jst northeast of Kirkenes. As a result the fjords are ice free during the winter except in the the Varanger Fjord region leading into Kirkenes. But, this tale digresses.

Prior to Ornes, a short 15 minute stop south of Bodo is Rodoylova or the ...

Bodø, North Norway, Norway sinilintu... sister ship MS Midnatsol departing on its southbound voyage. Boarding and check-in for us port-to-port passengers was an unceremonious but friendly experience. Not sure what to expect and with no office at the port, we walked aboard the ship with our bags and were directed to the reception desk to the side of the entrance hall. Here our booking was retrieved and we were issued with personalised plastic room cards that showed our cabin number as well as which meals we had pre-booked ...
Bodø, North Norway, Norway v1213... eventful, just the normal work of going to classes, doing homework and hanging out with friends, so I will spend most of this entry telling you about each of the trips I have been on. First, in the last week of August, my Adventure Knowledge class went on a trip to the Engabreen glacier in Svartisen, a few hours drive south of Bodø. We left on Wednesday and made several stops along the way to look at
Bodø, North Norway, Norway jazzoboe... were told to go a different way to get down to the main road and catch a bus back to school, however, a Norwegian whom we assumed knew the area well told us that it would be just as fast to walk back to school, and silly us, we believed him. Unfortunately he didn't so much know the way back as have a general idea what direction the school was in and it took about 3 hours of walking up and down hills, on roads, narrow paths, and forested areas where there were no paths ...
Bodø, Norway jazzoboe... It was beautiful! We saw the Nidaros chruch which was amazing. I still can't believe the beauty of it. Its one of those memories that you can't ever forget. The rest of the day we just walked around. Later that night we all went to see a movie. I went to see Oceans Thirteen for the second time. Good movie but I wish I went to see This is England..oh well. Our train for the North left at 11 that night. We traveled ...
Bodø, Norway tingaWell this was a long week... Monday morning we left for a 5 and a half hour train ride to the middle of Norway, Trondheim... it is the most beautiful city ever, by the way! Anyways, we arrived mid afternoon and went straight to our youth hostel... my first experience with one of those, and it was an experience. But it wasnt too terrible, just different. Then, Norway is in the end of their elections, so we went to a voting booth and got ...
Bodø, Norway julieflickner3... killed me by the end. But after we survived that ordeal we got to meet the former leader of the Sami parliament which was very interesting indeed, although he didn't talk much about the parliament but more about issues affecting people in the Arctic which while unexpected was quite interesting to hear about. Finally at about 4 they let us go and we hopped on to another bus which took us to our 'camp site'. Now, I must say ...
Bodø, Norway korvette923... were traveling on and stop at the look out. So we did, but sadly we could not see the mountain, due to the poor weather. We started driving to Riksgränsen which was the last city or town in Sweden before entering Norway. We decided to stock up on food as it was going to be rather expensive in Norway, even more expensive than Sweden! 2 tins of Ravioli and lot of bread and spread later, we got back on the road and soon entered Norway. The border crossing ...
Fauske, Norway samira_steve... species of sea and air creatures thrive. George took one path and we took another. We saw water. He saw orca. It was an interesting day, but it was good to be back on board. Shortly after three Midnatsol left Bodø, headed for another port. It's the first time we've had an extended journey across open water in the North Atlantic. It was extremely rough for about two hours until we were once again shielded by land. Later ...
