Here are some pictures from the opnening ceremony, the treisure hunt and the party in the evening. The treisure hunt was organized by the students comitee. Every class had "Fadere" -> mentors or guides. We went through Notodden and had to fullfill differnt tasks. Very funny! :)

This was alot of fun clambering over the granite rocks, walking through small patches of woodland and the views of the Skerries (rocky islands). ... is really great on this trip. He is able to carry on talking with people which helps me out me out a lot. With my having to keep the trip going with calls ahead, making sure that our visits are helpful, writing, etc. Bruce has been most helpful about engaging the people we visit in discussion. ... I'm coming off the hill. As soon as I cut over, I get reamed by this skier, pounding me into the netting on the side of the run. I come over the netting and desperately try to hang on to it. I instead flip over the netting, lose hold of it and plunge down the rocky slope. I am extremely lucky as my board gets caught in between two rocks, saving me from falling all the way down, and I come away injury free ...

... to see the family, even more so than when I was gone for my first study abroad. I think they can relate a lot better to this trip, so I'm really exited to talk with them about it and give them their Christmas presents. It also sounds like it has been a bit of an exciting fall what with my brother off at his first term of college and Dad loosing a bunch of weight and having hernia surgery (which went really well last I heard). It will be really good to be home.

... My job was to make the food. We have potatoes sliced up. We cooked them on the fire and put corn, cheese, ham and other toppings on them. It was really good, and it was my first warm lunch I had here. We also made pinnebrød, which is bread wrapped around a stick and cooked in the fire. It was really good. ... to walk on because the rocks were anywhere from the size of my head to the size of my fist all tumbled together. Every step was a new angle for my ankles. Unlike the beach at home, this one is also an archeological site. It has huge piles of stones that are far older than the stav church I was impressed with earlier.
