... me down of the hippy trip I discovered another rust hole in the floor plan just on the foot step up into the drivers side cabin.
Lizzie made an intereswting observation, we seem to be the only campers with a "hippy van"....in other words, we don't see any other real campers (either type T1/2, T25 or T4's). They all seem to be the retiree type vans or caravan and car set-ups.
So Lizzie writes, we drove to Karlstad which is the capital of Varmland. A nice city by the lake and ...
After a very cold night in the van with temperatures dropping to 10 degrees it did mean that the clear skies of the day before had brought with it a gorgeous sunrise with just a couple of clouds. Funny, I used to always struggle to get out of bed to check out sunrises, and now with Jasper its quite a regular occurence!
So after a lie in, we took in the serenity as you might say!Thats for you Sashy! The ...
... the sea level was 25 metres higher than it is today. Some of the scenes show what could be trading, relgious beliefs, gods of nordic mythology, the list goes on. As Kenny said they have been painted red to show us the strength of the carving but may or may not have been painted. Being painted makes it seem quite surreal, like we are not witnessing the originals but I can see why they have chosen to paint them as they are so clear and distinct. Again there was only one other ...
Säffle, Värmland County, Sweden wizalll... there, we crossed to Djurgården to visit the Aquarium (www.aquaria.se). It was pretty small, but hosted a great rain forest and a pair of healthy looking black tip reef sharks. From there we continued to the Vasa museum (www.vasamuseet.se) which houses the buccaneer style ship Vasa. She was finished in 1628, and on her maiden voyage, sank before ever making it out of Stockholm harbor. After 333yrs, she was salvaged and reconstructed. The museum ...
Karlstad, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden jamierand... is doing a good job telling me I have an hour before my train back to Norway. Also last night there was another Lene Marlin concert here in Karlstad (yes the reason I'm here but dont judge me. bah i dont care anyway, it was totally worth it). It was put on at short notice but was really amazing, she had a band behind her of at least 10 people including a string quartet, a drummer, and a percussionist. Then after the show I followed the Italian fanatics again and got to meet ...
Karlstad, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden mikerickson... away on Friday - boring I know. Its really great here, everyone is happy and Swedish, unlike the grumps in Norway. There are cycle paths everywhere and it seems like everyone rides a bike even old people. I have visited some older areas with cobbled streets and cycled (I have hired a bike) out to a rune stone in a farmers field, which is just like a memorial thing that is ...
Kristinehamn, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden mikericksonSince i'm new to this kind of things so lets see how this ends up:) Right now i'm not out travelling, i'm sitting in my parents flat in central Karlstad where I just found this blog while playing Traveler IQ Challange on facebook, so i thought, what have i got to lose? Travelling is a big part of my life and so far i have seen very much, but there is still very much ...
Karlstad, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden danielwrinell19 minutes past midnight and we are leaving Karlstad by a bus that is taking us to Örebro, where we'll change to another bus that will take us to Stockholm Skavsta Airport in Nyköping. In about 17 hours we'll hopefully be in Innsbruck in some pub or fan-area where we can view the game between Sweden and Spain.
Karlstad, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden danielwrinellWe have been living on an island for almost a month now. Today we woke up to 4C and thought that the time had come to leave. We still don't know if we are selling our hose in Florida NEXT week or not. I think realtors (real estate agents) are the tru evil on earth! How much pure **** can come out of ones mouth and still nothing happens?
Roholmen, Sweden svante... he was gone, I paid and used the facilities. The rest of them shared the free used of the toilet as long as you hold the door. I was gleefully happy that the Malaysians have to hold their bladders. Chris said I was being childish. Oh well, I take a certain pleasure knowing that certain parasites couldn't feed that day. The nefariousness in me wanted to take a photo of them to post it on the Internet. With my new digital camera, I could take photos without care ...
