After visiting Tuskegee University I drove over to Auburn for my scheduled visit during their dinner and Bible study night. There were a little over 100 young folks there but not many that particularly cared about seminary. I did speak with a couple of folks and one in particular, Winston, who is certain about wanting to go to seminary after graduating from Auburn. I had a good time ...

    Attempt at Tuskegee

I've been trying to reach Rev. Sheila Bates at Tuskegee's Wesley Foundations for months now to no avail. I didn't want to come all this way and not at least try to drop in on her though. The address to their location on their website led to an abandoned building. Needless to say, this attempt wasn't off to the best start.

I was trying to bypass the main campus chapel as I know the relationship between she and Rev. Gray isn't the best but, I had to go over ...

I didn't have any expectations going in to visit, I was merely tagging along, but it ended up having a powerful effect on me. ... pitchers surrendered 4 in the second, 2 in the third, 4 in the fourth to take a commanding lead and would hold on to win 13-6. The Braves were then down 2-1 in the series and facing elimination. This gave me the sense of dread that I might not be returning to Atlanta in a few days to see Game 5 or any other playoff games for that matter. Unfortunately, this intuition proved correct the next ...

... Methodist Church. Tuskeegee has some very poor areas and much of ARM's work is done in this town. Construction began on the church in 1861 and was completed in 1872. The unfinished church was used by Yankee troops in 1865 during the Civil War. The church had fallen into a state of disrepair, but ARM, along with other entities is trying to rehabilitate the historic building. Lisa gave me a tour of the church and the main room is still in ...
