    ... of hours at a local hairdresser on Broadway, Greenwich Village. My colour needed some attention, but mainly my hair required a good wash and a dry with a hair dryer. In this freezing weather you can't go out with wet hair, as it freezes and breaks off!! (Men with beards have to wax them in the cold climes too...)     Well as the body gets older strange things happen. My left leg had been rather sore but I just put it down to lots of walking, and then it blew up into a balloon around the ankle and foot. I didn't think much of it till a friend suggested that it could be DVT so off to the medical centre I went who then referred me to an ER. No pundits, no George Clooney lookalike but big ER guy ...

    Today the sun was shining, and I thought, I need some air!

    So I took the subway to "Bowling Green" at the south of Manhattan, and there I took the free ferry to Staten Island (read "stetten" island). There were many other ferries, to the Statue of Liberty, to Ellis Island where all the immigrants used to touch the American soil... I had a quick look, too many tourists! So I took the regular ferry, that just sailed ...
