This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel in the past few months. I was traveling from the west to the east to visit family and it took me through Kalamazoo both times. When I was planning my trip back I did not hesitate to reserve a room at this hotel due to the service I received on my first visit. The staff were great and the free breakfast is a great bonus!

Drove down from Grand Rapids to Gun Lake. Moved into Jim and Jean's cottage at the Lake, in her family forever. Perfect place to recover from jet lag/persistent cough, and get WARM. Met Schmidts at the Casino for a nice dinner, played a little Blackjack (I won $20). Met the usual gang for golf on Wednesday at Thornapple Point, Jane had ...

        ... ve had for ages.

Only got to gate just in time to board after 2 1/2 hours transit. (a repetitive 3 step process that ultimately led to me having to do what I always do in USA when travelling with Eric at the customs officer in person, so the first 2 steps saved nothing in time or queuing - grrrrrr).

Finally arrived in Detroit on time and easy drive here to Kalamazoo where I did get ...

Traveled from DC to Michigan in two days, hit lots of rain and bad weather on most of the trip. We stopped here so we can take the RV into General RV on Monday morning to see about get the slide fixed, they will most likely need to order parts so once they see what they need to repair it we will head up to Indigo and return when they have the parts to get it fixed. ...

So after a night in Chicago we filled in time till our train by checking out the Magnificent Mile, walking down to Lake Michigan and generally wandering the streets of downtown Chicago, admiring the architecture and the beautiful gardens and trees which are everywhere. Downtown is stunning - wide footpaths with flower beds and trees, really clean (which was a great after the plastic drifts in Mexico), and it seemed quiet, even though it was pretty busy. We popped into an info centre to ...
