    ... desert later in the evening. All in all we could not have asked for friendlier and more accommodating people. During our Northern American travels we have experienced such friendliness and more than any of our previous trips.

    A familiar scene for us. Girls up early eagerly awaiting the alarm, bags mostly packed, Matt and Jen preparing mentally for a four hour drive (more so regarding sanity than traffic)...'we're on the road again'. This was formally our last US leg drive. Breakfast, car packed, four chocolate cookies from Reception received and we were ready to leave Charlotte.

    ... only be removed by cooling the furnace and shoveling it out. That was very inefficient. Someone figured out that if you add limestone to the mix, under the temperatures and pressures needed to produce the iron, the residue of the 3 products would be a liquid of lighter density than the iron, which could be poured off, just as the molten iron was. Amazing!

    ... with me to have some flex with Ginger's work schedule. They are a very busy company now, but this will really improve upon Ginger's drive when she gets back. Expect a well-rested employee ready to kick some southern ass.

    So tonight I am trying to figure out what to pack....I wanna run light just with the necessities and a good book. More to come.
