0017 Phum Wat Bo, Sala Kamreuork Siem Reap, Cambodia
Another update, another location; this time I'm comin' atchya from Siem Reap in sunny (and humid) Cambodia. We flew out yesterday evening from Ho Chi Minh City, after having spent the day on foot looking for pagodas in the city's north. Today we have also been tracking down religious sites, visiting a few of the famous Angkor temples around Siem Reap. Full details are below. On late departure days Charles and I like to take advantage of the ability to sleep in and maximise the 12noon check-ou...

... We had a breakfast seemly of rice pudding and relaxed for the morning. Chin let me ride his motorbike for a bit and then took the kids for a ride. Chin’s brother then took the kids for a ride but Ophelia came back very unhappy.
We headed back to Siem Reap earlier than expected because of Ophelia being sick. Checked back into the Jasmine Lodge and arranged for a taxi to Kratie for tomorrow ...
... which they used to kill the babies, they took them by the legs & hit their heads off the tree. It was crazy like. After we went for a look in the museum which had pity much the same info as the prison the day before. We made out way out to the tuc tuc, who played us a tune on his fiddle, was really nice! we hit back for Phnom Penh, stopping at a bakery on the way back, where we made pigs of ourselves (including the driver, did you ever see a motorbike driver eating a bun while ...

The walk continued... we saw Thommanon temple, and came to the gate of Angkor Thom, the largest of the temple complexes (9km^2). This impressive gate was where we saw our first stone "face". On we went for several more kms with the end (Bayon) in sight, but at an impossible distance in the heat. We stopped at a public bathroom, and nearby spotted three young (< 5 week) puppies which Sheena was allowed to touch ...
... years or joining an extremist group? BAD ASS!!! Unfortunately, being the end of my trip, I did not quite budget for the RPG or hand grenades but was able to shoot off an M-16 like blazing idiot.
Another great place to act like an idiot, is in downtown on the main drag of restaurants and bars. Full of damn near every ethnic food one can think of and cheep booze, this place is a backpackers and my personal paradise. Roam up and down any of the ...
... heard what I was doing he was most concerned that i would be landing in Flagstaff in the dark at such an ungodly hour. When our dining slot was over he invited me for a drink downstairs ( yes it was a double decker train ) but that was easy for him to do because he was in cattle class so the poor man wasn't going to get any sleep soo definately needed to numb with alcohol! Ordinarily I wouldn't have turned him down but I had to give some justification to the cost of my ...

It seems to be a strong and very intimate example to me of the difficult life on Skid Row (his home before he came to the Catholic Worker 5 months ago) and the hardships of homelessness. He is going to be admitted into the hospital tomorrow, and I could see the fear on his face. He doesn't want to be dealing with this. "I'm still young. This shouldn't be happening." If you pray, please remember him. And if you don't, please remember him. Lastly, I'm fasting today. I'll actually be ...

We got on carriage 1 which was actually a lot more comfortable than previous carriages, the seats seemed bigger and as there wasn't many people Dan and I had a double seat each. I got my sleeping bag out and we pretty much slept for the duration, the train did stop at one point and some French lads got on making a racket chopping and changing seats but the 10 hour journey seemed to ...

Now starving and definitely not paying over the odds for a butty, I jumped back on the tram to go down to the vending machine where things were at least half price. There was a lady breast feeding on the tram so I turned away only to be surprised that the husband was none other than brit actor, Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind, Master And Commander). I didn't hassle him for an autograph, mainly because I couldn't remember his ...
