... our height, having a vision test and also our physical abilities tested. We needed to squat down and touch the ground and then stand back up and be able to open and close our hands. This showed our ability to use the breaks on the scooter. After we all passed our health check we went to take the written test. I am pretty sure that I studied the least out of everyone in the group. We were given a manual of all the questions that they could ask us. There was a multiple ...
Yingge, TW.04, Taiwan ashleysblog... some locks for my backpack. No such luck. They had all these crazy expensive combination locks and I just wanted one that was key operated. I drove back to PH, thankfully it had stopped raining and picked up the pizzas. Drove back to the dorm and then began the process of hungrily devouring one whole pizza on my own. All the stress and running around had really gotten to me and I was just sooo hungry. I think if someone had reached for my pizza at ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... lot to do. I was bored there. On Saturday night thought we went to this club and we had a great time just dancing away (Derek and Emil putting on a show as usual). Derek and Emil then left for Indonesia at the end of September and I hung out with Dawn a lot. She's a funny girl (or bird, as they say...she's British). September 23rd marked my one year anniversary in Taiwan. Looking back, here are the cool things that happened in the last year: - Made friends ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... the certain items I know how to say, of course). I find that once I see the proper stroke order for any character (and then practice writing it some ten times) it sticks....and I am able to reproduce the same character easily from memory. It's a little intense sometimes and my brain hurts after trying to wrap itself around Chinese grammar (it is sometimes the complete opposite of English grammar). BUT, all in all...I think things are going well.
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... night long. You need to understand...I was deprived of the internet for a good 2 months I think...and only accessed it when I was desperate enough to brave the smokey/stinky internet cafe. Anyway...the first thing I would like to tell you about is my birthday. My birthday was on November 19th...I turned 29 years old. Man...I will be 30 next year. It's strange cuz I don't feel like I am 29 and it just seems like a number right now...but on the other hand I sit there and ...

Taipei, Taiwan vac215Well, I'm back on the other side of the world. For the most part, the flight was pretty decent, but for some reason I was restless and couldn't sleep too much. Watching the in-flight movies helped make the time go by faster. As we were landing, I was wondering if anything else would put a glitch in my trip. Well, to start, my connecting flight was only an hour away so I'm thankful we landed without delay and I dashed to the next gate. The ...
Taipei, Taiwan protaras... diversity in the bands playing - some local, some foreign. Akiakane is a Japanese girl band, they were good, and Strike Anywhere also played. I think I fell in love with the singer, he was such a nice, passionate, and good looking guy! The highlight - MUSE!!! Yes, Muse played a random gig in Taiwan! Hooray, the opportunity to see a 'real' band. It was rather- I've been listening to this band since I was 16 signing along at the back of the band tour bus at school, and now I'm ...
Taipei, Taiwan horizonboundThis weekend was the mid-autumn festival here, or the moon festival (at least that's what I call it). There's a whole story about a girl going to the moon, and even though I've heard it twice, I've already forgotten most of the details. They eat lots of moon cakes, which can either be pretty good or really disgusting depending on the flavor, so I've been tasting with caution. Most of ...
