Sleep in until 6 then up and at 'em - brekky starts at 7 and what do you know.....we're first in the dining room! Coffee and food down and hit the road. Only 400m they say till we hit the track again. Ummm we can see it - 1.2km closer to the mark but we know the Spanish have no freaking idea of distance. 400m can be anything between 200m and 2km!

Soon off the bitumen and onto limestone and rock roads. A mix of dirt and old Roman road in ...

Get off the bitumen all the way to Riolobos. Now this is the new diversion from the original VDLP because some farmer decided despite government pressure to not allow us onto his ...

... where we run back into the Calzado Romano (the Roman road). Now part of that is gone as when they built the reservoir they flooded an old Roman village. They claim to have rescued the bridge, but no one knows where it is so the story goes.

So now back on familiarly territory following what we came to follow. The sign (posted pic) says 800m to Albergue which we found out last night is indefinitely closed. We find out from others including the ...

... who suggested we approach the guy in Lisbon who has been so helpful to them last week. Sent off several emails, then home. Marliyn cooked paella- this time, EXACTLY as I expected, pork, chicken, chorizo, vegies and fluffy rice.(not baked as we had in Seville). Decided to head for Madrid anyway next day, as the only lead we had so far with the Boomer was to travel backwards ...
