... The quay at Skinningrove is being renovated so the access to the beach is restricted and at one point we had this long sandy beach all to ourselves. We had set a marker on the sand and when the incoming tide passed the marker we set off again on the journey home. The first task was to climb the sandy base of the cliffs, a case of once we had started we could not stop as we would slide down again. Soon we were back on firmer paths and heading north.

... of surface quality. The road was well potholed and had a few drops on either side but after a mile or so we reached a junction with a more major road which was nearly wide enough to have white paint down the middle.
We reached the Abbey safely, dropped off our walking gear and headed off to the main entrance to enjoy a cream tea at the cafe. This was a great treat at the end of our active day.

We approached the woman behind the first desk, nose pierced, knotted hair and asked "we want to go travelling?" at first she didn't say anything, but her response was written all over her face "no ****". ... and then there was going to be time waiting before we got onto the next plane but it will be worth it. The flight to Doha was 8 hours. I normally hate flying because I get so bored and I can't get comfy enough to sleep but I was quite surprised, we were given a blanket and a pillow and I was able to get really cosy and sat and watch films. ...

It's overdue, and will hopefully not be hastily written, but I can now catch my breath and write the final entry to my blog, precisely 144 days since my adventure began.
A relatively comfortable 19 hour bus ride away from Lima lies the northern town of Mancora. A beach getaway for Peruvians, this site has a fairly ramshackle centre neighboured by exclusive properties to the south and expensive hotels to the north.
