... I'm laying on the sand, applying sunscreen over sand and just making a royal mess of myself. And. Prepare yourself. I officially went European sunbathing!!! There were two older women by me and nobody else. They were topless so I took a deep breath and joined their fashion statement. I have to say, it was quite freeing. But I still don't think I'm ready for the nudist beach down the coast.
Anyway!
So fine, I traipse home with my sand-covered body and come into ...
... nor American helped me.
Rather than just going back to the train station and sitting there for four hours, I stopped in a little Argentinian restaurant. Knowing Gaby, I was well versed in the fact that I should check the menu before sitting down. The Argentinians (and Uruguayans, who really fed Argentina everything their famous for, right Gaby?) are big meat eaters. But, they had pasta on the menu. Hurray.
The waiter was an older guy that found it amusing ...
... around a bit and then headed on our way. Our main destination was Almeria to see the Fort there called Alcabaza, and then we planned to visit Parque Natural in Cabo de Gato. This area is know for it's conservation efforts and beautiful natural beaches. Mike asked around to find out what other areas are interesting on our way to Almeria. A woman (park cleaning lady) told him Roquetes de mar is a beautiful spot. We drove right there and hated it! Ugly, overdeveloped town ...
Almeria, Andalusia, Spain stacicheck... someone had been waiting behind a rock near us. I couldnt have left faster if i tried. Very stressful moment.
So we cycled to the other side of Almeria but our journey was cut short due to a coastal windy road with no lights. We had no choice but to sleep where we were. which happened to be up some steps near a light house in the view of hookers. Seriously no other choice. Also, where we slept the happened to be 1cm by 1 inch orange woodlice crawling everywhere. Lovely.
Returned to San Jose. Next day drove around to the town of Cabo de Gata, saw the salt-pans, went up the the "Cape", saw the incredible beach of Cabo de Gata, had great lunch there, then went around to the beach at Monsul. Eventually decided I HAD to leave!!
San Jose, Burgundy, Spain travellerbruce... who told me that he only stopped if someone rang the bell!! I said it was obvious I was a foreigner and that I'd bought the ticket asking to go to the airport. He shrugged and dropped me off at the next stop where I had to wait another hour for a return bus. I rang the bell three times when we re-approached the airport. Picking up the car, I drove into the countryside hills behind Almeria through miles of urban sprawl until eventually finding the motorway heading towards ...

"If I drop this cigarette packet", I said, "what will happen?" "It'll fall down". "Will it though? Will it?" It did. "OK, it did. But what happens if I drop it again?" "It'll fall down". "Will it though? Oh, it does. But what will happen if I drop it a million times?" "The same". "But you can't be sure". "I can". "Well I can't be sure. You see, just because it drops a million times, doesn't mean that it'll drop on ...
