The hotel is right next to the airport, which makes it extremely convenient after a long set of flights. Though we've only just arrived, the reception staff was friendly and helpful, we have vouchers for breakfast, there's free wifi in the rooms, and the bed is comfortable. Beyond that, the room is clean and modern.

... I was quite looking forward to, and while it wasn't huge, it was still a nice way to spend an evening and some good memories. There are still a lot of activities and events that I want to do. It is just a matter of slotting them all in around working hours and which weekends suit best with the weather and other friends' plans. Work has gotten better in the past month or so, thankfully, and touch wood, it will stay fairly pleasant for the rest of ...

... to Yangmingshan National Park. Hiked up the highest "mountain" of the park at just under 4000 ft. It was pretty hot though at 30C. Like most big cities, Taipei is shrouded in thick haze. We went to look at the free public hot spring. It is gender segregated as clothing is not allowed in the pools. Didn't particularly relish the idea of lying around naked with 10 other people in a 15X15 pool. ...

... his first porn collections. Pinkish-light purple bed.. and curtains. . . Fan facing the bed.. A window with a wood-panel taking care of an old broken window, a standard 9" TV, and a 12 red button operator switchboard... The hard part of the button operator is that it is written only in Taiwanese/Chinese. I had to go downstairs to learn how to turn off the lights in broken Chinese Sign Language...

... there are a couple problems with that...

I found out after I booked my flight that the Taiwan Consulate office in Philipines only likes to issue 30-day visas. Or, what they usually tell people is "Taiwan is a small country, you only need 30 days to see it all." It's a paradox. They want the West to suport them politically, and with trade, and supplying English teachers, but they don't like the idea of foreigners entering/staying in ...
