... a little old and I thought it could fall, but after I rode it, I was like "I DID IT". Then, after some ice cream, we walked past the Olympic swimming pool, which has a great view of the city, and went to the Joan Miro museum. He was a famous artist who was born Barcelona and lived in Majorca. He made all sorts of designs, on pieces of paper, on cardboard, and sometimes he did random stuff, like sculptures out of umbrellas ...
Barcelona, Spain and Canary Islands zolab... kids play area, a zoo, and several large historical government buildings. Our first stop is to the Animal Museum which has a temporary exhibit about CSI type stuff. The kids love going through and playing with the hands on displays. They evaluate footprints, make tracings of faces, poke around at a plastic cadaver. Crazy kids. Then its on to the Animal Museum. Basically, just a huge room with a bunch of animals behind glass. We walk around and enjoy ... the kids ...
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands styrsky... that offer free lodging to pilgrims, but we've heard that they are first come first serve, and some people get up as early at 4 AM to race to the next stopping point. We won't be doing that. I figure the point of a pilgimage is not to race, and I don't like the idea of hiking in the dark. We have all our camping supplies, so if hostels are full, we can camp. We ...
Barcelona, Spain fritzandjenny... sliver of driftwood, and three pieces of my precious journal paper. Ouch. Double Ouch Ouch. Nevertheless, my pilgrimage to Monserrat continued and after finally asking a few people the "right" questions (and understanding the right answers), I am on a tram to the top of the 4,000 foot Monastery. Since my trip to South America in 2006, I haven't had any problems with speaking in Latin countries. My thpanish ith thtill thufficient exthept for this damn listhp ...
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands salsatiff... big mandala type arrangement out of flower petals. it was really interesting watching this piece of art be created, all done by women, working together, i really wanted to join in, and it gave me ideas about doing something similar back home with some ladies with an appreciation for flowers and artistic expression. The streets were full of buskers at every turn making beautiful music on an array of exotic instuments (unlike Londons bunchof randoms). There were spanish guitars, harps ...
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands rhibeez... around for Chile, you’ll be depressed to find out that yes, I am incredibly dedicated to writing these darn things because they are my diary.
So, if you feel like you are getting to know me better because you read these, then you should be weirded out because you are getting to see the inner workings of my brain. Actually I find that sometimes I don’t actually think about these things that I write, it just sort of comes out. Weird, yeah I ...
... the siesta. Much easier to adjust from jet lag, and stay up late if you get an afternoon nap in - The weather - it proved the forecasts wrong - sunny and in the 70s nearly every day! - Back alleys - always something interesting around the corner and surprisingly clean. We saw a lot of street sweepers and washers - they might even clean every night. - Architecture - Old or new, in the city center it's generally interesting. The ...
Barcelona, Spain hansanddoyleYes, after beautiful weather in London (well, the last day was cloudy and rained a tad), and after a ****** flight and standing an HOUR in the security line because the Brits don´t seem to have their act together and then sitting on the runway for an HOUR because... well, see above... I landed in Barcelona in a thunderstorm ...
Barcelona, Spain racquelh... take full advantage of Barcelona's night life. La Rambla (the street in Barcelona) is very much like Cavill Avenue in Gold Coast, but just a couple of km's longer! & a lot more people. Similar thing though. Markets, buskers & just people everywhere! Had a beautiful dinner. We went to a restaurant that doesn't open til 8.30pm & doesn't take bookings. So you have to line up like you're going into a ...
