This morning I joined a group to visit Trakai. The tour company picked me up at the hotel in a big van. I was the only English-speaking client, the other four were Russian-speaking so I had the guide to myself at the castle while the others joined a local guide.

Then we visited the Vilnius Picture Gallery, which has a representation of both Modern but mostly Masters works of Lithuania. It was so hot inside the gallery that we didn't give it justice but practically raced from room to room just to get outside again! We walked all the down to the Church of St. Anne, took a couple pictures in front of the church as a group. Then walked past another church and down a side street again to stop in an Amber Museum. The stairs to get downstairs were cut into the rock and pretty narrow.

Downstairs in the museum though was really neat. It was an old excavation site where people would dig up amber. And of course, it had walls full of ...
