... as we crossed into Lithuania, the first of the 3 Baltic states.
After 7 hours on the bus it was a pleasure to get out in Vilnius, the capital, which is near the eastern edge of the country.
We had a rest & then walked towards the old town to have a meal but could only find a range of cafes & restaurants featuring foreign foods before we settled on some Spanish fare in disgust.

... We had drinks, and capte duona (my favorite Lithuanian snack which is fried bread with garlic, salt, and cheese) and I taught them how to play Kings. The next day everyone was feeling very social and I met a lot of people in the dorms. There is a massive Polish population here.  I met a guy from Georgia who wanted to talk for a few minutes about basketball and Ray Allen....fine by me...and then the conversation quickly turned into him questioning my feelings about Muslims ...
