... fools and horses character, was an extremely welcoming, kind and generous host. The bungalow he shared with his wife Kerryn in the northern suburbs of jo'burg was fantastic. Big, trendy, very secure and had its own wicked little pool to top it all off. My fears of Jo'burg were completely unnecessary, there is definately a dodgy area in the city centre where we wouldnt of lasted two minutes but nobody goes there as life is lived in the huge ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa jordanblair100... we must just comment how funny it is, how there are no dogs running around outside......

Thank God mel is our chaufer for the next 2 days, as there is soooo much traffic, stop streets, traffic lights. People seem to know how to drive here, as the idiots in KZN just sit in the middle, to outside lane, driving like granny. That reminds me, not long out of Underberg, this OLD granny over took us at breaknek speed. over took all the cars to the horizon as well. Then ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa pileinn... is to get the Hell out, so that’s what I concentrate on, trying to book onward transport to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, from where I’ll cross over to Livingstone, Zambia, for the Crossroads Music Festival, a regional competition and festival which I’ve followed for a couple years. There’s only one problem- it doesn’t exist, direct transportation, that is, so after much wandering around while hemming ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa hardiek...
Johannesburg, South Africa brisko... with the monkeys. Swaziland we recently learnt is an individual country, we found this out at border control. The hostel here was very welcoming and guarded by 2 humongous but soppy dogs who could knock us flying when they got excited. We visited cultural villages and local markets, tried horse riding, got a lift in a police car (no we weren't in trouble) and helped out in the local orphanage, which was an ...
Johannesburg, South Africa miss.scotty... had about 4 hours of it. What made it worse is that one is so close to the water but one can not swim, some of the grass is really sharp and the there are water snakes. Our view from the tent was just spectacular. I saw the sun rose the next morning lying on my mattress in my tent. Sheer bliss and content!!! I can not wait to go back to Guma lagoon and stay for much longer. I think it is the most beautiful view from any campsite I have ever been to ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa elmab... morning I was asleep in the bed that'd been covered in stuff - I'd obviously just pushed everything off the bed and onto the floor and got into bed!! .....why?!? ..I blame the tequilla!! ha ha Monday 19th: Feeling really hung over, I drove back to Eden Vale for brunch at Tandor's parents house. I lasted a couple of hours there before heading back to the hostel and back to bed!! In the evening, feeling somewhat revived after my nap, I went to Cat and ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa cat2222... that I'm excluding women from this corporate ritual, successful business women tend to have bigger balls than most men. I know I've seen them. As I follow Carl into the boxy interview suite, I can feel my hang over biting. Why does he always have to pick on me at my most vulnerable: i.e. (eight fifteen and twelve and a half seconds on a Monday morning. **** most reasonable people would at least let me get a coffee first, he must be loving this. I sit down ...
Hoedspruit, South Africa olibray... so that all major roads went into the city center. Districts were not connected between one another but to the center. Passengers wanting to get to different districts of the city had to first go through the center, specifically to Gandhi Square. Upon arriving in Gandhi Square, we immediately began looking for the City Slicker bus stop. This was unsuccessful. Eventually we visited the nearby public bus office and were informed that ...
Johannesburg, South Africa pachi... home-based care properly linked to his type of specialist HIV clinics. At present, his clinics fulfil tertiary, provincial, district and primary health care functions, forcing his tiny staff into spending too much time on patients who do not necessarily require their skills. More rural HIV/AIDS clinics would help "catch people before they become too immunocompromised and crucially persuade them to come for voluntary counselling and testing," he says. "The government needs to ...
