Total darkness!
... to celebrate!
We walked across the bridge in Tromso at that is 1000 meters in length. (and uphill a lot of the way!) That took us to the very new looking catherdral....very modern design and the monkeybear jury is out on whether we liked it or not, The walk was ace though.
We walked back across the bridge and then mooched around the town, looking in a few ...
Bus, 2 ferries, cable car
... bus window...
We rolled into Tromso about 5.30 pm and our ship to Bodo didn't leave until 1.30 am. Had some time to burn, so we left our big backpacks at a hotel and headed off for the cable car (fjellheisen). We had ...
The Fiddly Bits !
... pollution. Big check. As Tromso is some 800kms away and having enjoyed Swedish trains we are keen for other transport options. We discover that the Hurtigruten - a coastal ferry service that has been running for over 100 years is a cheap option. Taking one of the many cruises that the Hurtigruten offer is quite expensive but going Port to Port is quite cheap. Also the 3 days on ship will give us plenty of nights away from other lights to hopefully see some Northern Light ...
