... s and really have no desire to beat that. Quite a few hilly bits and plenty of wind. The hills are small, often just slopes but for me and many others they require a leap of faith at the bottom...think of that little train..I think I can, I think I can...... and you will have the picture.
Passed some onion fields yesterday with all the onions out drying off...the ...
... was a a quaint little restaurant again at the base of the Cathedral called Het Vermoeid, very nice atmosphere and great Entrecot of Veal Roquefort. This was all supplied with a great virtuoso playing a semi ...
Antwerp, Belgium jv3117... tourist area, but the journey was fun as well and took us into a neighborhood we would not have explored otherwise. Finally, the beer festival did not disappoint. All 6 Trappist beers were represented as well as many other Belgian brewers, each with 2-5 types of beer. Of course we didn't try all of them, but the ones we did try were quite good. The festival itself was very crowded, but otherwise was fun. Even Meeghan ...
Brussels, Belgium chronometers... win improves my record to 5-3. I'm not sure of my ERA because stats come out in intervals, but I'm pretty sure its still sub 2 and my K's/9 has to be somewhere around 9. So, I'm pretty happy with my performance but I still don't feel like I've shown my best stuff yet. I will be taking advantage of a by-week and heading out to Prague and Berlin for five days! I will certainly post pics and write about the trip when I get back.
Antwerp, Belgium threeup3dwnSo today was my first day at the rowing club, lets just say these rowers are not the most punctual bunch, but once they get there and get rowing they go FULL TILT! Living in Brussels and the rowing club being in a city north of Brussels, it is quite the hike getting there. In total, one-way, I must walk, take one tram, one metro (subway), one train, one bus, then walk some more to finally arrive there 1hr 30 minutes later. Needless to say it is harder to get ...
Gent, Belgium norski... them taking care of The BOSS's art education for the day. There really was nothing left for us to do - and if we hadn't already paid for our nights accom, we probably should have moved on. But we liked our hotel, so we went back to it and chilled out... all afternoon... in the sun... with our books... and our belgian chocolates. Delightful !
Antwerp, Belgium scootergal... is the word I'm looking for. I think that I prefer the smaller, more discreet churches that allow you to focus on the task at hand - praising god - than the decorated to the max churches that make you ooh and ahh at the architecture. But I'm sure priorities and thoughts were much different centuries ago when everyone was trying to outdo one another with the biggest and the best. I'm realizing that I've started a book here, so I'll try to post some pictures with this entry, and say aurevior for now!
Brussels, Belgium de_la_austin... expect to see anywhere from Morocco to Turkey to Afghanistan, from rugs to hookahs to Qu’rans. Next day I’ve still got to kill time until my night ride, so take a day trip out to Bruges on the recommendation of a friend. It has the distinction of being intact after WWII, so plenty of nice architecture, but nothing you couldn’t see somewhere else
Brussels, Belgium hardiekI arrived into Brussells, rather late, I think it was about midnight and I took a taxi from the airport to the hostel that I had booked for the night, only to arrive there and find that they had absolutely no record of my booking at all. And as I didnt have any access to my emails there was no way of proving to them that I had made a booking. But thankfully they did have a couple of beds avaliable and I was able to crash out in a room of about 30 ...
Brussels, Belgium beksontour... we headed to the car to see it completely iced over. I scraped down the windows while Julie helped out from inside the heated car...what a b-day present that was. Although I did get to control the radio all day - which was nice! We headed out of La Roche by taking small country roads for about an hour until we got to Bastogne, the place where thousands of servicemen and civilians died during the Battle of the Bulge during the winter of 1944-45. Bastogne seemed like a pretty ...
