... a gaijin to the lady at the counter. I thought I was getting the 'gaijin price' of 5200 yen at first because of the way they were looking at and speaking to each other. I saw the pricing on the wall and it said the same, 5200 yen per night. I couldn't turn on the power for the room lights at first. Some things had power. Then I realized the flap on the main switch was a receiver to a plastic blade on the room key. You leave it in there. I showered and ate. Better luck ...

... drove by at a red light. Initialize Kaylee's excitement launch.... and then we got to the parking lot(s), which looked like a modified Subaru dealership lot. There were about 5-6 parking lots full of Subarus, Mitsubishis, and a few other select brands, but mostly Subaru. After "settling" into (crying into a questionable pillow) at the Annex, we picked up our rental car (an adorable Nissan March - unfortunately not of the Nismo variety) so we'd have transportation to Tsukuba Circuit tomorrow.

Overall, not a very eventful day, but Tsukuba Circuit tomorrow means good things to come!!

... trains right up to the shinkansen on exhibition... well, at least the front bit of the shinkansen. Most were interactive and you could enter most of the carriages. There was a large turntable in the centre of the room which demonstrated the way they rotated the trains. Unfortunately, we were on the third floor when it started and by the time we made it down, we had just missed it.

There was a large model train ...

Going back to Oyama and seeing Alberto and his wonderful family was something we really looked forward to and the action was there!
We kicked off the night with one of Iracy's amazing dinner and left the next morning at 5am for a 24hours beach marathon. Drove 80km to get there and spent the whole day and night at the beach. It was so much fun, the water was warm, the sun shining, the heat intense.
Today we are just taking it easy with lots of siesta time and catching ...
