... emperors/city history etc but when the wind started whistling noisily around the statuary and the rain would just not stop, twas time to end the tour. Photos and thanks to pedal power guys then to on to another great boho cafe - the burg.ring on the ring rd for late lunch and to dry off! Then tram back to the Reisen rad to go on the big wheel at dusk / early - quite high but stable carriages only rocked a little but the other little train-like carriages ...

... of the trams this time round. Some are so old "they should be in a museum" as Matt would say. So if your interested in old transport, taking the tram is a must. A day ticket costs around €7 per person. We hopped on a tram and headed to Prater, home of the famous old Ferris wheel built in the 1800s. Although we didn't go on it was nice to see, however it is situated in a "theme park" much worse ...

... Italian cities and a lot more expensive. We didn't need to walk far before we found a very nice restaurant with reasonable prices and we enjoyed our first meal in Vienna. Just down the road in the mall, they have a permanent big screen like in Fed Square and the locals were settling in to watch a Verdi opera! Can you imagine Melbournians doing that? Looking forward to seeing more of this beautiful city tomorrow and to get my first glimpse of the Danube ...

Day 37: schonbrunn palace incl zoo

... and the gardens are massive. About 2km long and 1km wide. Still, had a nice walk and ended up at the zoo! And since it was the oldest zoo in Europe (i think...) and was enjoyed by the royals so I simply had to go. Finished up there and I finished the walk and went back to hostel to get changed for tonights concert. I got a ticket from one of the gazillion ppl dressed as Mozart. Except he gave it to me for cheaper because he said are you suuuuure you're not a student! 28euro ...
