    ... platform and it's really quite difficult to get cases up and down. Don't know how the oldies get on. Now there are mountains on the horizon with snow on the top. Beautiful! As we get closer to Milano it has become very flat. There seems to be less horticulture/orchards/vineyards and more green paddocks/crops. Maybe they grow wheat up here? They surely need a lot for all the pasta they eat. Got into Milan on time then found my train to go on to ...

    ... look like a 3 lane motorway!) winding stretches with Liz making groaning noises “No way”. The site staff rushed to meet us but we feigned being lost and used the entrance to turn and retreat in haste (well as fast as safety would allow)
    Wherever we went was still grunge over a space of 12km or so on the “Riviera Drive” up
    the lake.
    There MUST be something better than this?
    Worse was to come...a storm ...

    ... places, probably the best was The Lake of Varese, which was beautiful.

    We spent some time talking about my Mum, her last visit to Italy where she planted a garden for them on their veranda which is still thriving and brings them lots of joy. We talked about other relatives in Italy and Australia, and they showed me lots of photos!
