Our tour guide diverted us off the main road to follow the river and lake systems. There were reports of sightings of reindeer along the way. Arrived at Rovaniemi about 5pm so Yol and I took off with a circuit of the town, across the bridge spanning the river and along the bank to another bridge and back into town for our group dinner.
... into the town is far from imaginative or attractive. The dominant building style is purely utilitarian. Most buildings are 3 or 4 storeys tall and boxlike. The streets are not on a grid pattern although I don't detect any landforms preventing that.
