Things That Drive Me Crazy!!!!

Things That Drive Me Crazy In China

Let me begin this rant by making some qualifying statements. I love being in China. It is an amazing and fascinating country. The sights, history, and people are incredible. The Chinese people are the friendliest, kindest, most wonderful people in the world. They are always smiling and so happy to try to communicate with you. They will do anything for you to help, or to just be a friend. But ...

Who turned off the heat?

... they are freezing too, but they leave the classroom and leave
the door open. Are they crazy???!!! I have been vigilant in closing
the classroom door and therefore my classroom warms up nicely by the
end of the day I took off my scarf, raincoat and even for awhile my
fleece coat. It is to be noted though, that I get to stand directly in
the line of the heater. It is wonderful. The heater blows right where
the teacher stands ...

Out with the Old

Suzhou is home to China's famous gardens, where poets, artists and philosophers spent their time during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Ah, the good old days. Sitting around drinking tea, shooting the ****, and attaining moral perfection.

But the Chinese have no trouble moving on. Like most of the North, the history of this city seems covered in a thin layer of dust kicked up by progress. What remains seems to exist exclusively for tourist dollars, evidenced by whole towns in ...

Tiger Hill and Grand Canal

... 8220;egg roll” for everyone to try. It was a light, sweet, crispy shell that was rolled like a canola, just without the filling. Denise tried it and found it rather appetizing. The group made our way back to the boat to see the rest of the canal tour at night with the lights on. It was amazing! Denise was able to get some wonderful pictures, be sure to check them out below. Everyone agreed it was even better than our time at Tiger ...

Sesame Street - Biking To Work

Our school day begins early at 7:30am. It takes us about 15 minutes to ride to school. The last kilometer of our morning bike commute takes us down a wonderful neighborhood street we have come to know as Sesame Street. Each morning and afternoon, as we ride to and from school, we watch in wonder as the people of the neighborhood go about their everyday lives on the street. Sesame Street is a narrow 2-lane street. On ...

Suzhou.. Venice of East

... minutes). However if you buy the new sim card in Suzhou and use it in another city outside it's province it will cost you more. This is called fee of mobile phone roam.

We checked in our luggage and I stoped for a while for Jack because the officer was checking his backpack and finally they stopped they thought an umbrella something else. Actually I think security measures is varied from one city to another. I see that Shanghai has the best security measures ...

Gardens and Lakes again

... third bar, which was by far the best, we played darts and pool (I won). At this third bar, called the Shamrock, we started with tequila shots. They were playing some pretty good music and it was an open pool table. We put our names on the list and I pretty much owned the table until the bartenders started playing. Steve was busy with his 17 year old bar girls, so I just kept playing pool. When we had both finally had ...

Wonderful Chinese Randomness

... China is definetely mostly acid... awesome.... Also, today we went to the Korean restaurant on campus because they have this pretty awesome egg, tomato and rice dish... however, when we arrived we couldn't remember what it was called. So we explained to the waitress (in chinese of course) that the dish consisted of rice with an egg on top... She got excited and pointed to ...

Beautiful Canals N a Garden to Linger In

... to the Buddhist community.

The buildings we see today were actually built during the 19th Centaury after the temple was destroyed.
Damn Red Guards!

This temple is the only one in Jiangsu Province that holds five hundred original Arhats that were created during the Ming Dynasty. The temple itself was very spacious and the ...

Venice of the east

... nice. Suzhou is a canal town famous for its silk factories, the canal was man made in 3 different stages approx 1800 years ago. We expected a few more canals for a place known as 'Venice of the East' but there is really only one major canal and a few minor ones. They were probably a lot more prominent back in the old days when everyone lived around the canals. First stop was the humble administrators garden, classic Chinese garden, very ...
