    ... of tidying up when we arrived and this ended in carrying toilet seats and lawn mowers through a house. Melanie carrying one tile at a time amused me on another level.     ... we go. Vilnius is a very small city, and also one of the quietest capitals I've ever been to! After getting some food for dinner that evening, we took an early night, we were both still tired despite the amounts of sleep we'd had.

    ... and frustrating day alternately crying and abusing the hostel's WiFi on a series of Skype calls that kept cutting out, trying to reach family members and book last minute flights and have a futile argument with the *******s at my insurance company who have decided that my trip interruption isn't covered because a grandparent doesn't count as "immediate" family.     ... old city is surrounded by a horseshoe shaped canal which joins the river at each end and is crossed by many bridges. It was originally the city moat, as in all these towns there was a castle, but Riga castle in the old town was closed for renovations at the time we were there.
