... little bar I've ever been to. it was a small, two story bar. Old, dark wood, low lighting, good music AND a cat named Juliper! The Belgian beer is amazing. In my opinion it's much better than German beer. German beer is good but you only have a few choices, with Belgian beer you have hundreds of choices and they're all delicious. So we're sitting at this bar and we're talking about the fries. Belgian fries are supposed to be the ...

Smells and other things

Just a quick update today as breakfast isn't too far away. Today we leave the Netherlands and head into Begium to Antwerp...a shorter day on the bike as we will get the guided tour around the streets. One of the guides is an expert on historical architecture and has lots of explanations and stories. Sometimes the brain is too bike weary to take it in.
Yesterday rode 42 ...

Past two weekends of games

... far the smallest field I've ever played on. It couldn't be any more than 250' down both lines, but maybe 330 to center! Odd set up but it makes for an exciting game. Despite the conditions there was only one homerun hit and it wasn't off of me! Haha...our clean up hitter, Phil, got into one and sent it over the LF wall for two runs to break open the score 4-0. I ended up pitching 7.0 scoreless getting the much needed win ...

... they wanted 2 euros to enter. It's against my religion to pay to enter a church but as it seemed the only thing we were going to see that day I capitulated. The guide was free and she was very good so I guess it all balances out. There are 4 original paintings by Rubens in the cathedral and our guide gave us a detailed history on all ...

Bus, train and boat to Holland

... give change in the money given them. Against the rules, you know. Got into Hoek Van Holland on time (11:55pm) and headed for the train. Lots of quite stoned young men waiting for the train. No idea where they got the drugs and fortunately they stayed off the train until almost the last minute. Shared seats with some women who probably originated in the Orient and the Caribbean but for whom Dutch was their main language. Interesting. They were all in a huge ...

A day of shopping in Rotterdam

... drinks, are very polite...like opens doors and stuff for you...really sweet. We went to a bar called Breakaway in the towns center. The people here are sooo nice, they love Canadians, and really try to practice their English on with you. My aunt and uncle are great hosts, they cook us great meals every night (yummy Dutch food!), are very accommodating, and helpful. We are very happy they let us stay here! Anyways, I am falling in love with the Netherlands all over again.

B-day trips to Belgium

... almost having sex, it was difficult not to notice them. But the meal was so nice, it had little impact on our night. Plus, finally the fireplace was lit. The following morning we woke up and saw the most amazing landscape from our bedroom window (see Pic 32). There were endless trees in every direction. It was quite a sight. We ate breakfast and were shocked to see the 2 drunken couples from the night before. I could not believe that they were up this early but they were. Following ...
