Starting west - From here we cross the isthmus !
ACAYUCAN is a city in the state of Veracruz, located in the state's southeast, in the Olmeca region. It serves as the municipal seat for the area of Acayucan. Altitude here is just 100m, and the highway across the isthmus, is the shortest and lowest altitude across Mexico (East to West)....also this is where the oil pipeline runs, pumping oil from coast to coast.

... it. The clerk though said 350 and I said No, the driver told us 300. He paused and said "ok." Outside in the hallway we could see a shadow lollygagging. It was surely our taxi driver waiting for us to finish our business and he could get his cut. This is the first time we experienced this but we were not surprised. It even had internet though a weak signal. Time to research the city/plans update our location to the world and sleep!

Getting through mexico not trrible at this point, But thr hotels are getting slim pickings!! $12 a night and a place to sleep isn't bad at all!!

... sign in a fire break created in the forest. It was the following day we discovered how close we were to El Mirador (1 km further) but we think Humo Chico is a better camping spot. We watched a beautiful sunset sitting on the rocks overlooking the valley and when it got chilly we retired to the tent and watched it from there; W e both slept like babies.
