... to be different and pick the exotic ham sandwich. To stick in budget we declined drinks and stuck to the warm water from our water-bottles. By the time we'd finished lunch Emma's sun cravings were in full drive. We found a place on the grass which had a tree for shade and a perfect spot big enough for Emma to bask in the sun. Later on we (except Lucy) went for a swim in the lake. A treacherous journey, as the lake took ages to get deep enough to swim. ...

... I decided to purchase my ticket for the opera and then my first seafood since our first night in Greece. As for the opera, what can I say. Fantastico! Stupendo!! You get the idea. Very unusual set design and a beautiful ballet to begin with the overture. Even understood some of the Italian and a spectacular ending with fireworks. An enthusiastic burst of applause from the audience. The only negative was the heat, otherwise ...

... became to drive to Sirmione instead! It's a beautiful medieval little historic town at the South of the Lake that sits on a tiny little island at the end of a narrow strip of land about 20-30 mins drive away. The entrance to the island is guarded by a beautiful castle built in 1277 complete with moat and guarding the tiny little entrance way to the village - no way Mike could drive the caravan through here! It was really busy so we had parked on the edge of the town ...
