Oslo

Oslo turns out to be an absolutely horrible city to drive in. However, we get to the Viking Ship Museum without much trouble. Directly through the park and into the parking lot, then into the museum. Look at the photos I've posted on this museum. It is terrific and I have a lot of great shots of the ships and other objects. And hour well spent. Lynn finds a good display on the Borre Viking style complete with excavation photos and objects in situ that are actually in the display case. Very ni...

We had decided to rent a bike each the
previous day, so after getting the special bike card, we rode around
to some main attractions. We went to the Munch-Museet and saw the
famous 'Scream' and 'Madonna' painting, followed by the Vigeland Park
(which was a sight to see) and Vigeland Museum. We also cycled to the

... ships tell a lot about the Vikings and their history. I find myself wondering how people in the 19th century managed to design and build such a structure. Without the help and use of technology. Now, we can't do anything without cranes and computers. Are we getting dumber?

My second favourite site was the ski jump in Holmenkollen. Situated high above Oslo, on a beautiful day, I admired the panoramic view of the city. The ...

The old wooden style fits so perfectly into the surrounding landscape and makes for a lovely foto-op and chance to pick some wild and FREE raspberries!

The hike lasts a couple of hours and takes me past some neat farms clinging to the mountainside with the fjord shimmering ...

Oslo- Back in the City

... what type of mood to be in or which generation you were supposed to dance to. Every generation was at the place so it was amusing. Then we took the night bus home. Pretty much the same thing you would experience on a night bus in the US of A. Good times. Saturday we went sight seeing in Oslo- specifically to some top tourist spots including: Karl Johan St (spelling could be wrong here, but you know what I mean), the Folk Museum which ...

... choice was set: we ended up speaking German almost exclusively. It was very interesting since sometimes, I caught myself still thinking in Italian and translating it into an akward form of German. Perhaps too much limoncello from Fabiana and Marco's wedding last night was influencing my mind. However, at other times, when we found ourselves thinking in English or Norwegian, we would use those words and still understood each other ...

THE STORY SO FAR

... seeing Buckingham Palace as a child on a family holiday to London and i must say it was as boring an experience now as it was then. The only interesting thing i find is the guards, I'm sure we have all dreamed of a job where we can get paid to stand around and do nothing but to me that's got to be the toughest stand around and do nothing jobs that you could possibly get paid for. I don't know how they can stand like that for hours at a time. What do they think about?? By the ...

... as you walked through the streets - amazingly you can see the influence of nearby countries on their style of architectures based on what happened to the Norwegian history throughout time. To my surprise, this whole museum reminded me of my father. My dad grew up on a farm, being raised as a farm hand alike with his siblings. To see the farms, school houses, the snow and to have it all progress to the 1970´s of older gas stations, and ...
